You finally realize that you need a good opt-in list.After reading countless articles, seeking expert advice, and have read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists you finally decide to have one of your own. Then it happens, you think you have found everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed the advice to the T, but you still weren't able to make a profit.
In fact, you may be losing money. Little things like outsourcing your content writing or paying to drive traffic to your opt-in could end up adding up to a loss. So after a few months go by, you're really not convinced that the money is in the list after all. This is because the only thing you have seen so far, is your bank account empty out!
So why are you not seeing the results that you want? Why is it others are succeeding and you have not been able to make a single sale? The most common mistake peolpe make, is they begin to spam their list right from the beginning You chose a promotion that you think could be good and earn you some money. Unfortunetly, this isn't always the case. There are many, especially when starting out, who think they can just immedietely send an offer out and people are going to bite on it.
Here are a few things that you can do to try and salvage that opt-in list that you started.
1) First and foremost, gain the trust of your customers! Just getting your customers to sign up to your email list doesn't automatically make you an expert on your topic. The content that you send them at first, should be full of value. No fluff, just straight away value to the niche your in. Write about the topic you know and have started and used for your site. One way to find out what questions in your niche are being asked is to visit forums and see what problems are trying to be solved. You can put these questions down on paper and answer them. You can then send these Q&A sheets out to your list.
Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advices and recommendations.Put a signature in your profile directing them to your opt-in offer. They will already have your trust because of the quality answers you give in the forum. They will be much more responsive to your offers.
Truth of the matter is, your only going to get people to buy when they trust what your saying. They want the service or product to be worth the money that they're going to be dishing out for it. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don't know or trust you.
2) You need to be sure that the product or service your promoting is something that people are looking for. You also need to make sure that you are knowledgable about the product or sevice that your promoting. If your not all that familiar with your topic, then you need to put some effort into reseaching the topic until you are knowledgable enough about it to answer any questions pertaining to it.
It can be true that selling something that your familiar with can be easier, you need to remember that sometimes it's necessary to expand into other people's wants and interests. Do your research well on what your list wants and you will see the profits come in. Also provide your subscribers with free valuble material that they could actually use, this will make them want to stay on your list.
3) Get to know well established list owners. You can learn many tips from somebody who has already had a few successful opt-in list promotions. The more experience you get, the better response you'll get from your list. Although there are many resources on building a list, first hand experience is always going to prove to be the best.
Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. There will be different situations for different niches, but the basic concept of building a relationship with your list is still the same. There are many things to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.
Keep one thing in mind, bringing in profits from your list is not going to happen overnight. Establishing that relationship with them will take some doing. Remember that as time goes by, your list keeps growing. keeping them interested in you and what you have to offer will be an ongoing affair. You need to make sure that you're organized and you manage things well. If your list starts getting to a point that you feel you can't manage it yourself, then you can always outsource for help. The important thing is always keep them happy if you want them to continue to respond to your offers.
