3 Tips To Help You Drop The Ego

Nowadays for a lot of people, their ego is running the show. It’s only normal for the ‘I’ or ‘self’ to be the main focus of our reality. But when we pay the self too much attention, we are living a life led by ego. Moreover, we’re absorbed within ourselves, and there’s no seeing life outside of ourselves. When you live from a heart-centred space you see and feel more than just the self. You live from a perspective that we’re all one people.
Cultures that are thriving often have a sense of connectivity and oneness between all people. This is because the individuals feel valued by one another. The Taiwanese people are a good example of people living from a heart centered space. When we visited Taiwan we felt as if the Taiwanese people were one big family. Wherever we would go we noticed how they respected and valued each other. They were in a constant state of giving and helping.
When we are in a state of I, this is when problems in our life can appear big in our reality. When we are constantly in a state of conce
for our lives, we’re more likely to have more thoughts of past and future. Being in a state of conce
eliminates the present moment. You can not have conce
ing thoughts, and be present at the same time. This is why it’s important to once and awhile get out of the ego, and into the collective good for all people. Are you ready to drop your ego, and live in a state of connectivity, and openness towards all people? Below are some ways you can do this.
Set Intentions For Others
Before I go for a run or enter a yoga class, I will set an intention before I leave my place. One of the intentions I have is to help others feel more bliss and happiness. So if I’m on my run, I will make an effort to send blessings to as many people as I can. I will smile, and say in my mind “May you feel happy and joyful”. If I notice someone is limping I will send thoughts of “May you feel healthy and strong”. Blessing someone is one of the most beautiful things you can do. The amazing part is when you can send love to someone else, someone who you don’t know, the love comes back to you ten-fold. When you send a blessing for someone who you don’t know, you are automatically dropping the ego.
Help Someone
When you help someone you immediately bring yourself back to the present moment. Helping others also gives us a sense of purpose and belonging. Whether it be picking up an item that someone has dropped, or helping a person carry something heavy. These small gestures go a long way when trying to live from a whole-hearted space. When we help people, this is when we feel the happiest. Our attention is no longer on ourselves, but only on the task at hand. When we do service, we are able to understand the pure meaning of love. A beautiful quote by Mother Teresa is: Spread love everywhere you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. Whether you give to a charity or open the door for someone, making an effort to help someone will bring you to a more peaceful state of being.
Sending Love Meditation
We’ve heard time and time again. Mediate. Meditating brings down the pure presence of love. When we feel this pure presence in our lives, we know that there’s more to life than what meets the eye. When we meditate, we understand the spark that connects every human being. We feel love and this love overflow to others.
Allowing yourself to feel connected to the world and its people can help you to let go of the ego. Sit down and imagine a globe in front of you, visualize that light is coming out of your palms and that you are sending love to the world and its people and animals. Doing this process helps to let go of the ego, and helps you to realize that we are all one.
