The power is now in the consumers hands more than ever. They have all of the knowledge and resources to make a purchasing decision without needing advertising to persuade them.
So, what does that mean for us business owners? It suggests that we should begin focusing on attracting customers to our businesses, not just reaching out to them directly. And what’s the best way to do so? Content marketing.
It’s no secret that customers trust a brand more when they publish regular content. This can be in the form of blog posts, videos, podcasts or other material. It offers free value to users, educates them on relevant topics, and keeps them coming back for more.
Every business can benefit from creating regular content. If you put in some elbow grease, content marketing costs absolutely nothing besides a time investment. This gives it an incredible return on investment.
Keep with me as I cover 3 ways content can take your business to the next level.
Producing content is going to drive targeted traffic to your website for years to come. The effort you put in now will pay off later infinitely. These users can turn into leads or paying customers. And as you keep putting out great content, this effect multiples. Next you know, you’ll have so many customers reaching out that you won’t know what to do.
This can take a while to pull off, though. That’s why I suggest not neglecting traditional marketing with ads, banners, etc. Use them to get immediate customers and clients while you grow your content. While it can upwards from 15 to 17 months before content marketing pays off, it is one of the best long term investments you can make.
You can generate upwards to three times more leads and spend 62% less compared to outbound tactics when you use content marketing. Unlike ads campaigns and similar tactics, content is affordable if outsourced or created by yourself. This helps keep more money in your pocket, while also generating more revenue. A double whammy!
Proper content is centered around your ideal customer, also known as a persona. It allows you to attract only the highest quality users, so they have the highest chance of becoming a customer. But, only 44% of businesses user a buyer’s persona. Don’t be one of them anymore and piece one together, even if it’s quick.
I’d also like to mention that content is very flexible. You can write an article, then turn it into a slideshow, infographic, and a video. These then can be shared on a variety of platforms to expand your reach and get the most bang for your buck.
Lastly, producing high quality content that helps build your brand as an authority. By sharing news, guides, and other useful information, you become a thought leader -- a business that’s looked up to and motivates others.
Similarly, up to 78% of consumers believe businesses that create content are interested in building relationships with them. This shouldn’t be a surprise. Consumers are so used to being oversold to, that genuine value stands out like a sore thumb in the best way possible.
The amount of technology and resources available allows any customer to make an informed decision in minutes. Content that answers questions and provides free value is quickly blowing regular marketing out of the water because of this.
Am I right when I say you want to take your business to the next level? Then moving forward, I challenge you to focus on content marketing to see how powerful it is.
