Have you ever wondered why some people are instantly liked by everyone? Is it their charismatic personality that draws people to them like a magnet? No, you guessed it wrong. It’s their ability to make people LAUGH. And who doesn’t like having a good laugh? FYI, laughter is the best medicine in the world. We all prefer humorous friends and even humorous partners (if, possible). Their ability to crack jokes be it at a social gather or work place is appreciated by everyone. In the present stressful events and lifestyle having a good sense of humor is an essential social tool. Nothing beats stress more than having a good laugh. Wait, did you know laughter works as a stress reliever? Hence, never underestimate the power of a perfect funny pick up line or a joke that’s perfectly placed and executed. You can win hearts of many with your witty sense of humor. According to Dwight D. Eisenhower "A sense of humor is part of the art of leadership, of getting along with people, of getting things done." rnIn fact, tasteful humor can spice up things at work, help you creating better relationship with your co-workers and might help you in promotion (well, you never know).rnIt might also turn out that your work place is too boring and could use a bit more fun. The author of What the Most Successful People Do at Work, Laura Vanderkam says, “Humor, by its nature, tends to have an edge to it, so people typically tone it down at work.” According to an international business speaker, president of Humor at work, and famous author of The Humor Advantage: Why Some Businesses are Laughing all the Way to the Bank, “In workplaces that encourage people to be themselves--that are less hierarchical and more innovative--people tend to be more open with their humor, he further says, Even people who aren’t always comfortable sharing their humor tend to do so in more relaxed environments where the use of humor becomes second nature with everyone’s style.” The following are a few of the reasons why should you use humor at the workplace. Your customers will love you Customers are usually curious and want some advice when it comes to investing money. If you act too serious or tight lipped in front of them, chances are they won’t like you much. A bit of humor with an additional information and advice will do wonder. Your customers will be fully satisfied with your dealing and will like to interact with you more. So a dash of humor here and there doesn’t hurt anyone, in fact make people really interested in you and make them trust you. Happy work place, happy employees A work place that’s more fun and friendly is likely to inspire happy and enthusiastic employees. Enthusiasm is directly related with motivation, so if a little humor can smooth the path and motivate its workers to deliver their best work in a more cheerful and friendly environment, I don’t see any reason why any organization shouldn’t encourage humor. Helps you connect with people Never underestimate the power of a shared laughter, when two people share a joke it breaks down barrier between them, makes them connect and get along well. Gives Boost to your career According to a popular international survey people with a good sense of humor have better chances of career advancement as humor makes them appear cool, calm and more in control of a situation.
