If you’re looking to make improvements to your overall health and wellness, you don’t need to go off the deep-end with changing everything about your current lifestyle. Instead, start by making small, incremental changes, and observing how the affect your body. To get you started, here are four ways to naturally improve health and wellness. Diet What you put into your body, namely what you eat and drink, matters. The food you eat serves as fuel for your body. If you eat junk food, then your body will be sluggish and unhealthy. Spending the day sitting at a computer, with minimal movement, aerobic activity and stretching is not how the body was meant to operate. Counteract this sedentary nature by adding exercise to your life, if you’re not currently working out. Start small – take walks often, and even during the day at work. Join a gym and get to work on the cardio machines. Consider trying a fitness class that piques your interest, like yoga or kickboxing. There are also a number of home workout programs available through wellness magazines, and on YouTube. All you have to do is start –doing something, even if it’s 20 minutes of activity per day, is better than doing nothing at all! Mindfulness It’s no secret that our lives are busy. We spend our days rushing from place to place, from activity to activity, sometimes without even stopping to come up for air. This is not good for our mental health, nor our physical health. Counteract this tendency to go-go-go by practicing mindfulness. Focus on being present wherever you are – refrain from always looking forward or planning for what’s next. Enjoy the current moments as the happen. And don’t dwell in the past either. Enjoy the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of your current moment. Practicing mindfulness will lead to lower levels of stress and anxiety, and a healthier daily life.
