The world is filled with a whole host of exercise myths and a number of these myths might be holding you back from getting into the most amazing shape possible. After reading the following five exercise myths, do you find any of them to be familiar? Learning these myths are myths just might be what you need to hear and your newfound knowledge may prompt you to start working with a personal trainer.. 1) You burn more fat when you exercise on an empty stomach The idea at work here is that when there is no fuel in your body to burn off, you will end up burning stored fat; the problem here is research has show this not to be the case. Rather than pulling energy from your stored fat, it is more likely the body will draw energy from sugar in the blood and your muscle mass. Another major drawback here would be when you exercise on an empty stomach, you end up taking part in much shorter personal training workouts because you have less stamina, become dizzy or you get nauseas from the lack of blood sugar. Rather than allow yourself to go hungry, just take the time out to enjoy a small nutritious snack about an hour and a half before you start an exercise session with a personal trainer. 2) Cardio will contribute to greater weight loss than free weights People have someone gotten used to the idea they will end up burning more fat from taking part in high intensity cardio exercises than they would if they lifted weights. Sorry guys and gals, cardio alone is not going to be as effective as a routine that also includes performing some level of resistance training during personal training sessions. Strength training is a must when your goal is to build up lean tissue as it will increase your metabolism and lower your body fat percentage. If your goal is to lose weight, you will need to invest time lifting free weights. 3) If you are willing to exercise a lot, you can eat any diet you wish. This is a really cringe inducing myth as many people have destroyed a great deal of their excellent fitness results because they ate too much. Even when you exercise every day at an intense rate, diet will always be a critical factor. In addition, most people really overestimate the number of calories they burn and underestimate the number of calories they are eating. Such a combo will make you fat. If you want the best results, you have to eat a decent level of calories from healthy, wholesome food. 4) To burn a lot of fat, work out a long time at a slower pace This would be really great advice if it were accurate. Rather than working out at the right intensity, this notions leads many to under-perform. Working out at too slow and easy of a pace and still getting lean is really one of those sounds to good to be true bits of advice. You need to challenge yourself to get results so you have to pick up the intensity level a bit. 5) Exercise is not worth doing unless you perform it a great deal of the time. This is a common myth I hear from people that use it as an excuse to explain why they have not taken part in an exercise program and do not think they really can commit the time for one. Research has long since shown that any exercise is far better than no exercise. Can you only exercise one day a week? If so, then do it. Again, any exercise is better than no exercise.
