Victoria Memorial, Kolkata This memorial resembles the victoria memorial in London. It is dedicated to Queen Victoria who ruled over India for 25 years. The Chola temples were built between the 11th and 12th centuries, and are currently a part of the UNESCO world heritage. These temples are - The Brihadesvara Temple (Thanjavur), Brihadisvara Temple (Gangaikondacholisvaram) and Airavatesvara Temple (Darasuram). They are popularly called the “Great Living Chola Temples”. rnCellular Jail, Port Blair The Cellular Jail is also known as “Kala Pani”. It was a colonial prison in the Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which Britishers used to exile prisoners. During the struggle for independence in India, many prominent figures such as Batukeshwar Dutt and Veer Savarkar were convicted and jailed here. The complex is now under the supervision of the Government of India and is acknowledged as a national memorial monument. It reminds the struggles of Indian freedom fighters for Independence. It is also a renowned tourist destination in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
