Have you been told by someone that he can’t sleep at night because of your snoring? Don’t worry. You can do something about that. Statistics show that 2 out of 5 women say that the snoring of their partners has made them decide to sleep in another room. Well, obviously, that is not good for married couples. But when this problem is disrupting you, then you need to do something about it. Good thing there are these effective remedies that won’t cost you even a single dime! 1. Stay hydrated to prevent snoring. It is normal for us to drink water. But if you are having snoring problems, you might want to consider drinking more. Water can help break down the mucus. So, if your snoring is caused by nasal congestion, drinking lots of water may help. Of course, there is no specific amount of water you should take. However, as doctors always say, drink 8 glasses a day. Also, the next time you feel thirsty, grab a glass of water instead. Steer clear of beverages that dehydrate you, such as tea, soda, and coffee. 2. Avoid drinking alcohol before bed. Sure, several glasses of wine before bedtime can knock you out fast, but did you know that drinking alcoholic beverages before bed has an effect to your sleep? Studies suggest that alcoholic drinks can cause dehydration. If you can’t say no to a drink, well, just be sure you have water in between. Here’s another thing worth knowing. Other than causing dehydration, booze can relax your throat and tongue. When that happens, your airways are constricted, hence making you snore. 3. Try other sleeping positions. Sometimes, the cure for snoring issues could be as simple as trying other sleep positions. Although there are lots of “anti-snoring pillows” in the market today, those are not necessary. You just need more pillows! To fix your snoring issue, you may try sleeping with your head elevated. Doing that will keep your nasal passages from becoming congested. You may also try sleeping on your side to drain the congestion. 4. Consider shedding off your excess pounds. Have you gained weight recently? Those added pounds around the neck may put pressure on your nasal passages. As a result, you may snore or suffer from serious sleep apnea. Fret not. To stop this, get a tape measure and measure your neck. According to experts, the ideal neck circumference size for women is 16 inches or less. For men, that would be 17 inches. A size more than that may trigger snoring. 5. Combat allergies. If you are suffering from chronic allergies, you might want to seek medical attention. Believe it or not, it can greatly stop snoring. But if you notice that your nasal passages are already bleeding and dry, bringing a humidifier in your bedroom may help. It’s just that the room might be naturally dry. This is definitely true if you are residing in a place with a dry climate. Now, have you tried any of these tips? Did they work? Let us know!
