Dermatend is designed to effectively treat the following types of skin blemishes: 1. Molesrn Also known as a nevus, common moles are small growths that develop on skin. Moles are typically tan, pink or brown in color, and often have a distinct edge. A common mole normally measures less than 5mm wide which is approximately 1/4 inch or the width of a pencil eraser. Moles commonly grow in the shape of a dome and have smooth surface. Common moles are skin growths that develop when melanocytes or pigment cells appear on the skin as clusters. 2. Skin tagsrnMedically referred to as acrochordon, skin tags are bits of skin or flesh colored tissue visibly protruding from a small, narrow stalk. These are benign growths that tend to resemble a small piece of soft skin that’s hanging out. Skin tags normally occur in areas such as the eyelids, underarms, base of the neck, under the breasts and the folds of the groin. While they may vary a little in appearance, skin tags are typically smooth or slightly wrinkled and irregular. 3. WartsrnCommon warts are growths that develop on the skin surface and are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. Although they are considered to be contagious, it is common for just a single family member to suffer from warts. Warts will typically only affect just one part of the body such as the hands or the feet without spreading over a period of time to other areas. The dome-shaped warts are the most common type and typically occur on the backs of toes, fingers and knees. 4. Birth marksrnBirthmarks are blemishes on the skin that are typically noticeable at birth, or shortly afterwards. It is common for many newborns to have a vascular birthmark - a red, pink or purple blemish that results from the presence of abnormal blood vessels under the skin. Some babies are born with brown pigmented birthmarks caused by the clustering of pigment cells. Modern science still isn’t able to explain the cause of birthmarks. 5. FrecklesrnFreckles are flat, tanned circular spots that typically are the size of the head of a common nail. Freckles are normally multiple and may develop randomly on the skin, especially following repeated exposure to sunlight. People of fair complexion are more likely to develop freckles on their upper-body skin areas such as their nose, cheeks, arms and upper shoulders. Freckles occur as a result of an increase in the amount melanin in the skin.
