If you run your own business, I’m pretty sure by now that you’ve already experienced that social media marketing (My Favorite 3: Linked in , Twitter and Facebook) can take all the time in the world and the results are still not there or it can be done by someone else for you but what do you instruct them to do. Let me tell you.

1. Be-friend Ping.fm
In other words, make sure that you update all your social media sites with one click and have a very quick access to all of your accounts so that you can start the re-tweets and the comments and really spend less than 30 min on your promotion. The big idea behind all this is that you are simultaneously at many places which saves tons of time and at the same time – Google indexes you faster.

2. Create interactionr
Social media is just like having a chat with a friend. You certainly don’t wait for your friend to quote someone then promote something then share that they are going to the beach, etc. and not say a word. Being sociable in the social media world means to join other people’s conversations. It also means to share in such a way that your readers will be inspired to comment.

3. Do not spam
I can’t say this enough. Just because someone is a friend or a follower or a connection, doesn’t mean that you have their permission to sell them into something. It’s the same as going into a mall and starting to shout: Buy from me! Buy from me! Now, if you could imagine this to be really happening in a mall, then you know that the question your potential clients ask when you do things like that is: Who are you?

4. Be your self
This really goes beyond being nice and pleasant. In marketing they say that there is no such thing as bad publicity. There’s only publicity you capitalized upon and publicity that you didn’t do anything about. So, don’t be afraid to have an opinion and stand your ground. Also, you can show your personality by writing in the style you’re speaking. In this way – all your reader will know that it is actually you and no one else who is doing the expert writing.

5. Become a great story teller
What does story telling have to do with social media? Well, just like Sheherazade from Arabian nights survived day after day not to be killed by the sultan because he was so pulled into her stories that he was sparing her life day after day. Exactly the same thing with your business. You need to have constant supply of yummy offers and solutions that are backed up with really great testimonials and personal experiences to keep luring your clients into your playground.
