5 Steps to Success at Affiliate Marketing

You want to build your business online but you don't have the time, skill, know how or money to produce your own products. Of course you can invest a considerable amount of time and money and learn how to, but do you really think you can afford to compete with the gurus? You will avoid a lot of pain and frustration by starting out with affiliate marketing. If you are starting out, I suggest you don't even consider trying to do your own products - take my advice and go down the affiliate marketing route - it is quicker, there are excellent products available and you will get results quicker. Affiliate marketing has grown tremendously over the last 5 years, so there is a track record of success. But like all marketing approaches there is a right and a wrong way to go about it. I am not going to give a long dissertation on affiliate marketing - I just want to give you my 5 Steps to Success to get you on your way.
1. Choose the best affiliate marketing companies to start with. Why? Quite simply you want to make sure that you are going to get paid! Sadly, there have been many cases where affiliate programs have been signed up for, products sold, but no commission paid. However, you do not need to worry. Companies like ClickBank And Commission Junction have great reputations for integrity - and huge choice of products.
2. Make sure the product you promote is a perfect fit for the niche you are targeting. Sounds obvious, but very often it doesn't happen. The impact? Well, you confuse your customers and prospects. They have gone to your blog, site or squeeze page because the are interested in the message you have given, but the product you are promoting is not consistent with the message. So, be careful - make sure it fits!
3. Study the statistics available to you. ClickBank and others provide lots of information for each product - the success rate, the conversion etc. Study those figures and understand them. They are the evidence based on fact - do not dismiss or overlook this
4. Study the marketing support being given. The really good products provide excellent support. So, invest time to study the promotional support you will get for each product before you decide to recommend it to your customers.
5. Watch what the top online guys are promoting - and promoting more than once! If you see them emailing a particular product once, then that may be for their own purposes. But if they send two or three promotions out, then you can be pretty sure this product is good!
