5. The Ego

In an earlier article, I had stated that there are many influences keeping our energetic vibration low, and holding us back from expanding our consciousness and advancing our spirituality. One of the biggest obstacles to expanding our consciousness is our Ego. Our Ego is not who we are. Our inner self or soul is who we are, and our Ego is a false persona, whose job it is to keep our vibration within the range of the third density or third dimension of consciousness (3-D).
As I explained earlier, 3-D is the level of consciousness in which most of us live. It is the reality we have chosen in order to experience and learn everything that this dimension of reality has to offer. So, the Ego, although, not always appearing to be our best friend, really is here to maintain the status quo and keep our vibration within the 3-D Range. Fortunately, for many of us, we have nearly exhausted this 3-D experience we are nearing graduation to 4-D. Soon, we will be able say goodbye to our friend the Ego, knowing that we no longer need it and that it has done its job.
Now, there are five major tactics through which our Ego keeps our vibration low and prevents our consciousness from expanding. These tactics could be referred to as traps and I suspect we can all identify with most of them. They are: • The need to understand • The need to be right • A focus on what is wrong • A focus on the past and future • A focus on what’s around us as opposed to what is within us.
Ring any bells? I know they do with me. Anyway, the point here is that once we are aware of these traps, we can develop tactics for avoiding them. And when we do that, our vibration rises, our consciousness expands, our spirituality grows and we will be making major steps towards the fourth density and the state we call Enlightenment.
In the next article in this series, I'll be talking about the six major world systems that we have created to hold our vibration down and, in future articles, I’ll be explaining some more concepts related to this subject of Consciousness. Of course, you can also find an expansion of this information in my book on Spirituality, which, with its many reviews, can be seen on my website at: http://www.peterhdennis.com/Book_-_Spirituality:_Understanding_It_and_Pursuing_It.php .
