The importance of a website for your business can never be overstated. Your website proves your credibility in the market and provides a platform for you to connect with your audience. However, even with a website, most business owners fail to convert their visitors to customers. Why? Because their websites lack some key elements. So, having a website isn’t enough. There are certain aspects that the website needs to have, for it to be effective. Here are five of these elements:

1.A blog

Your website isn’t a blog, but it should have a blog section. Blogging is the best way to prove to your customers and audience that you know what you’re talking about; that you’re an authority in your field. When you start a blog, it becomes the voice of your business. It allows you to share your views and opinions about things happening around the world. Through it, your customers get to know you better. It’s also a free marketing platform for your products and services.

2. Clear Service Pages

The moment your customer has to start searching for a product or service on your website, more often than not, you’ve lost that customer. You need to have a clear layout for all your services. Have a services page that describes the services you offer and how that service can help them. Customers are impatient people, and so, the faster it is to find a service, the higher the chances they'll buy from you. In the same light, avoid bulky words on your page (jargon). Describe your products and services in the simplest way possible. Remember, it’s not about you, but the customer!

3. An About Us Page

People want to know who you are before they can buy from you. An About Us page describes your business. Who are you? How much experience do you have in the industry, and why should they buy from you? Subconsciously, customers want to form a connection with you. They want to know if you understand their problem. If you’ve been in their shoes. Your About Us page is the place to establish this connection.

4. Call to Action Section

Your website is only as effective as the number of people who take action. You might have the best website in the industry but still miss out on customers by not having a call to action. A call to action directs the visitors to their next step to purchasing your products or services. It’s an integral element of your sales funnel. So, if you want the customer to sign up to your newsletter, or purchase your product, then a CTA is the way to go. Pro tip: Ensure the call to action is bold, catchy, and enticing. Your customer expects it!

5. Updated Contact Info Page

Now that you’ve convinced the customer to acquire your services, you need to give them an easy way to contact you. Whether it’s through email, live chat or a phone call, ensure that the contact information is easily accessible. As a rule, have your contact information on every page of the website. This can be at the bottom of the pages, or the top of the pages. Furthermore, ensure that the contact information is updated. You don't want to lose customers just because you have the wrong details on your website. Final thoughts An effective website is the best employee you can have for your business. It’ll work for you day and night and provide results, as long as you have the right elements on your website. So, before you add more content to your website, ensure it has these five things.
