A clearly readable, usable and findable website meets clear conditions. How do you share it best? How do you shape it? And what are the pitfalls in this? 7 tips for a successful setup. 1. Do not deviate from the standard format Remember that people are mainly served with ease. They are used to a standard layout and expect to find it with you. If they divide that classification and do not find what they are looking for quickly, then they will stop. The standard layout means, among other things, that your logo is at the top left, with a hyperlink to your homepage. In the horizontal bar at the top you then follow what you do, how you do that and who you are. Language selection, login / logout option and a search function: all right above, your navigation through the site horizontally above or vertically left. Pitfall: Of course you want to stand out, be original and distinctive in the way you bring your product or service to the fore as well as possible. But an original layout is confusing. Be more distinctive with your content. 2. Make a clear homepage The homepage is your business card; most visitors start here. This place is therefore the perfect opportunity to conquer or repel someone. Be clear on your homepage about what you do, what you sell, what you offer and what distinguishes you from the rest. Do that in a style and with visuals that match what you stand for. Pitfall: 77 percent of visitors do not scroll down. If you elaborate too long about who you are and what you do, they are gone before they have found what they are looking for. Do not write long texts, but be brief and concise. Put the most important one at the top. Provide well-scanable pieces and work with subheadings. 3. Each target group has its own page Do you have different target groups? Then make a separate page per target group that is clearly and immediately visible on your homepage. The same applies to different services or products. This makes it easier for your customers to find what they are looking for and it also improves your findability in search engines. Do you have a blog, integrate that into your website, that increases the SEO value. Place it on the right, for example above a column with news items. Pitfall: Sometimes services and products differ greatly from one another, so it is desirable to choose a completely different style and design. Keep in mind that there is one recognizable signature, for example by keeping the corporate identity the same everywhere, just like the layout and working method of the different pages. It must be clear to the customer who the sender is. 4. Offer a clear menu A visitor on your website does not have the time and sense to find out how he can find what. Provide a clear and clear menu and navigation through the site and place it at the top or the left of the page. They are expected there. Pitfall: Companies often opt for drop-down menus that you can click at the top. This can be useful, but it reduces the chance that visitors click on it. It takes more effort, also because you often have to keep your mouse clicked to get into it. Visitors click more easily if the menu is permanently visible on the homepage. 5. Functional design A web design can be beautiful, but be aware that the layout with surfaces and lines is very guiding for how your content is read. Make sure, for example, that heads are within a plane, not above it. Lines between texts suggest that they do not belong together, so pay attention to that. It is advisable to leave all parts aligned horizontally and vertically, to make whites for each part the same, that colors match and that the text is black and white. Pitfall: A good graphic design can certainly make the difference, but often people start with a design and follow the content and the image later. As a result, important information is killed because it no longer fits. Let the content therefore be leading in the design. Final Words: The design of your website is perhaps the most important of your entire website. One takes only 10 seconds to take the time to review your website. Therefore, it's important to get your website design from a web experts only. Team at utomedia is very experienced to offer the transparency, flexibility and service that companies demand nowadays.=
