In a majority of cases, acne happens because of clogged pores. There are endless reasons for clogged pores such as bacteria, too much oil, hormonal changes, etc. Whiteheads are also called closed comedones because they occur when the pores are totally clogged. The head and length of pores are clogged that causes a small white bump on the skin. Treatment - Whiteheads can be treated with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and sulfur. These products can be directly applied to the whiteheads or facial treatment that contain these components can also be effective. It will help in eliminating dead skin, excess oil, and prevents acne from coming back again.

Blackheads

Blackheads are a form of acne that looks black from the skin surface and are called open comedones. In blackheads, the head of the pores are open and the remaining pores are clogged. However, they can be removed by squeezing it out but it is not advised because it can leave scars behind. Treatment - Blackheads can be treated the same as whiteheads. But you have to avoid using pore strips for pulling out blackheads. They will remove the blackhead for some time but this temporary treatment will make the acne worse by damaging the top layer of the skin.

Pustules

Small bumps with a white and red centre and inflamed skin are known as pustules. This type of acne is majorly seen in clusters on the face, back and chest. Always remember even a small problem in our body can invite big troubles so don’t do DIY/opt for home remedies for treating pustules.

The content in the acne spills out and the bacteria spread around the skin pores which leads to the bacteria causing inflamed lesions. Treatment - Benzoyl peroxide can be preferred for treating papules because it has the antibacterial properties that can provide relief. However, it is recommended to reach out to your dermatologist and he/she may prescribe you topical antibiotics, retinoids, etc.

Cysts

Cysts infect the surrounding skin because they often burst after some time. Treatment - It is not easy to treat cystic acne.
