If you have been researching for ways to make money online, you have probably seen quite a bit about affiliate marketing and the recommendations that you create your own website. Although this is a good way to promote affiliate products, it is not mandatory to have a website, at least to start.

All you really need to do to earn money as an affiliate is to send visitors to the website of the merchant whose products you want to sell. In order to do this, you post your affiliate link in places where it will be seen by your target audience. When they click on your ink and go to your merchant's website, the embedded code in your link will track your sale and your commission.

One reason affiliate marketing is so popular is because it is possible to make money very quickly. You do not have to create or deliver a product, process payments or issue refunds. Little or no set-up time is involved beyond completing a simple form online and submitting it to the merchant whose product you want to promote. Often you will receive your affiliate link immediately and be directed to the affiliate area for tools and suggestions on how to market the product or service.

In case you are now wondering where to go next if you do not have your own website, the answer is simple as there are several ways to get started.

1. Write a simple three line ad to use with PPC–Pay Per Click–to drive traffic to your vendor's website with your affiliate link. When a purchase is made through your link, you will earn a commission. Traffic is fast using this method and even with a small budget you can literally earn money within hours.

2. Join forums that relate to the product that you are promoting. Participate by trying to help others with information or suggestions. You will be able to post your affiliate link under your post in most forums and this will drive free traffic to your offer.

3. Write articles relating to the product you are promoting and publish them to ezines. Place your affiliate link in the author biography or resource box. When visitors read your article and make purchases through your link, you will earn more commissions.

4. Contact webmasters and blog owners in the same niche as the product you are promoting and ask if you can write a guest review post for them. Everyone needs new content on an ongoing basis and many will welcome your review. Just be sure it is of high quality and accurate. You can place your affiliate link at the end of your post.

5. Start your own blog. It is faster and easier to start a blog than it is to put up a website. If you have little or no budget, there are free programs available to start a blog and begin publishing posts on it immediately. Be sure the posts give good information that relates to the affiliate products you promote and add your affiliate link to your posts.
