Just like everything you do, you are going to make mistakes in affiliate marketing. The mistakes below may be an old time saying and some might be new to you. Anyway, you are going to benefit if you can avoid them in your online marketing business.nn1. SpammingnnNow, you probably post to forums, blogs or websites to get backlinks. How many links did you put under your signature? 3, 5 or 20? There are affiliate marketers who just put all their affiliate links under their name. This is just like spamming. And it is horrible to the visitors' eyes. It shows that you are desperate and people generally dislike desperado.nnThe best thing to do is to post quality message and limit 2-3 links under your name.nn2. No domain name and no websitennAn affiliate link is not your domain and the affiliate page is certainly not your website. Your domain name should at least be 'www.yourdomain.com' and the easiest website you can have is your landing page.nnUnless your sales message and offer are very unique, or else affiliate link like www.example.com/x3_oq5j7k90acd#j2mstbdast is going to turn your prospect away. Your prospects might think that you are another normal affiliate marketer with nothing special to offer.nnThere are a lot of company offering cheap domain name and affordable hosting package. Just search for these services online and you get a whole list of them.nn3. No personalizationnnToo often mediocre affiliate marketers send the same promotional email from the merchant. This is especially obvious when there is new launching from the affiliate marketing guru. How do you feel after reading the same message over and over again? nnIf you want to be a successful affiliate marketer, you need to at least rewrite the message, inject high perceived value into the email and personalize the ad. nn4. Not capturing leadsnn"People don't buy on their first visit." You really need to drum that into your brain.nnYou are wasting your time and effort if you direct visitors to the merchant's page and they leave without buying. The worst part is you don't know who are your visitors and you can't contact them even when you have tons of marvelous deals to offer.nn5. Dive in directlynnTo the contrary of what you read or heard, you really need to do your research before your start online marketing. This is especially important to the affiliate program you want to join. nnWhen you are forcing yourself to promote something that is not to your interest, you will find it difficult to sell the affiliate marketing program.n
