Faisalabad is the third most populous city of Pakistan. Its population is 2,506,595. Its old name was Lyallpur. In order to provide honor to the King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, the city was renamed as Faisalabad. The area which has come under the region of Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) is (2,261 sq ml). The climate of Faisalabad remains as very hot in the summer season and cool in the winter season. The season of summer comes in the middle of April and continues until December. The hottest months are May and June while the other three months named as July, August and September are extremely humid. The hottest month in Faisalabad is June where there is a maximum number of temperature and the temperature can cross 40 C in the month of June when there is extreme heat. Dust storms are more likely to occur. The month in which there is the least amount of temperature in January. Some of the days are normal while others are limited foggy days. The fog is said to usually occur at the time period of night and in the morning hours. Sometimes, the fog is dense while at other times, it is not. Most of the winter season occurs in the month of mid-November and continues till the middle of April. Spring season begins at mid-February and lasts until the mid of the week of March. The temperature rises again and again. It becomes hotter and sunnier. The city only receives 375 millimeters of rainfall which falls in the month of July and August.
