Truly healthy skin comes from taking care of yourself inside and out. Taking a holistic approach to the health of your skin will help to ensure that it not only looks healthy, but is healthy. Healthy skin is not as elusive as it may seem, by making a few simple changes to your lifestyle you can look and feel younger and healthier. 1. Eat antioxidant rich foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and beans are all rich sources of antioxidants and will help protect your skin cells from the damage that free radicals can inflict. You are exposed to free radicals from pollution, stress, toxins, a poor diet, and the sun. Therefore, consuming plenty of antioxidant rich foods will help keep your cells healthy and strong. 2. Drink an ample amount of water daily. Water helps your skin cells function properly and keeps them healthy and plump. Because your skin cells are comprised of mostly water they need plenty of it in order to be strong and fit. Consuming lots of water daily also helps to flush toxins out of your body that may otherwise cause damage. 3. Exfoliate your skin regularly. Your skin is continuously losing dead skin cells as new, healthy ones push their way to the surface. These dead cells can get stuck with sebum, dirt, and grime causing your skin to look rough, dull, lifeless, and unhealthy. By using a facial scrub regularly your skin will look smoother, more even, and softer. 4. Rejuvenate your skin with photo rejuvenation. Photo rejuvenation systems, such as the DPL Light, promote vibrant, healthy skin that looks and acts younger. LED (Light Emitting Diode) wavelengths easily penetrate deep within the layers of your skin where they renew, regenerate, heal, repair, and rejuvenate your skin. 5. Use a sunscreen daily. Unfortunately sun exposure is very damaging to your skin. In fact it is the number one cause of premature aging. Sun exposure causes wrinkles, sun spots, mottled skin, and worse case scenario; skin cancer. Protect it every day by wearing a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. 6. Get a good night’s sleep. Sleep is incredibly important for healthy skin as well as a healthy body. While you sleep your cells are hard at work regenerating, renewing, and repairing any damage that has occurred. Studies have shown that your cell turnover rate is 8 times faster when you are sleeping, making it a great opportunity to promote healthier skin. By making a few simple changes to your lifestyle and treating yourself to healthy choices throughout the day your skin will respond by looking and acting healthier. Taking care of yourself inside and out will help you look and feel younger in no time.
