I consider blog and article writing to be one of the easiest marketing methods to keep up with and build your authority over time. The beauty of content marketing is that you get to share your point of view, your personality, and your expertise which are a surefire ways to establish yourself as the go to person in your field.
Even though it's one of the simpler marketing methods that doesn't mean that there isn't a good amount of strategy behind making content marketing work well for you.
Here are 6 considerations you need to make when writing and promoting your articles to get the best results.
1. Clickable Titles.
The title is the most important part of your blog post or article because it is what grabs readers attention and lets them know if the content is meant for them. Your title should convey the result or the takeaways of reading the post. This will lend naturally to a title that contains key words as well as being appealing to your target reader.
2. Juicy Topics.
The best topics speak directly to your target market's needs. You want your topics to be relevant to the challenges they are facing and the results they desire. Not sure what to write about? Listen to questions your prospects and clients ask you on a day to day basis, you can also consider your work with clients and common pitfalls they fall into, or breakthroughs they have and write about those. When you pick the right topic your target market will think you're speaking directly to them and immediately see you as an expert.
3. Searchable Keywords.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is one of those "scary" marketing topics because SEO is not only technical, but complex. As a coach or solopreneur though you don't need to go crazy to get traffic through search engines. Just adding keyword rich titles and descriptions to your articles will go a long way to helping your content be found in search engines.
4. Consumable Structure.
One thing that coaches often overlook is how consumable their content is. When you write an article you want it to be easy to follow and easy to implement. List posts and how to's are usually the easiest to write and also easier for your audience to read as well. And when an article has great content that is easy to use it also makes it more shareable.
5. Posting To The Right Places.
Just putting your article on your blog isn't enough. You can also post it to relevant groups on social media and article databases. You don't want to just go posting your article willy nilly though, finding the right places will go a long way to getting your content found. Find Facebook and Linked In groups where your target market is looking for the type of solutions you provide, also look for article databases that have a community around them (Biznik is a great example). If you can get in front of a community that's already been established you'll know the people seeing the article are more likely to be in your target market.
6. Fitting Into Your Overall Strategy.
Something that is often overlooked is how your blog and article writing can fit really nicely into your overall marketing strategy. When you're planning to launch a product or program make sure the topics you're writing about are in alignment with the program topic. That way the traffic you're bringing into your site will be the most likely to be interested in the program you're offering at the time. You're also just adding to your credibility on the topic by sharing free content in your articles.
