Breakups are extremely tough. Even if nobody likes to have their relationships ending that way, differences in the their thinking behaviour and lifestyles without being compromising to one another as couple inevitably led to that. Here are 10 different ways of getting over breakups.
1. Considering Everything From Your Spouse’s Perspective
This will give you a clearer answer of why you broke up in the first time.
The answer may not be a good reason but it is still a reason. Based on my personal experiences, most relationships began well as both partners do not know each other well but like each other based on first impressions.
Impressions as in how they behave towards each other and the people around them. This is normal as we humans have double self images. The public image whom we want people to see us as and private image whom we prefer to keep to ourselves and share only with those we trust or what we do not like personally.
If you are able to consider everything from your spouse’s perspective based on those images, you will be in a better mind frame to handle breakups.
2 Do Not Change Your Decision At The Last Minute
If breakup is your and your spouse’s final decision, that is it.
No matter how much you think about the times you spend with your spouse, it no longer matters. They are just memories of the past. You can either keep them as souvenirs like photos of you together or simply throw them away.
So it is not wise to change your decision at the last minute especially when this involves legal proceedings such as division of property and wealth.
3. Stay Away From Each Other Permanently
Harsh as I may sound, this is absolutely necessary if you want to get over breakup once and for all.
Although you and your spouse can still remain as friends as what most couples said to each other, I do not believe and agree with that.
The fact is that you either remain as couple or break up and become strangers as if you never met each other before. That requires not seeing each other, not contacting each other be it via SMS, emails or social media, not being with each other’s family members and definitely not at the same place at the same time.
But if it does such as meeting each other on streets, public events or even social gathering of old friends, it is just coincidence whether either one or both of you are single, attached or married.
4. Building Relationships With Other People
Life is not just about being in relationship with your date.
It is also about building relationships with other people around you. Though I already mentioned in my last few articles, I like to bring this up as this is the most tip.
Your family, friends and relatives are the best examples. You can also participate in activities which allow you to socialize and network with people. Churches and community clubs are the best places for you to start off with.
5. Acknowledge That Your Ex Is Just Not Compatible With You
If you have done your best as in compromising and even accepting responsibility for your mistakes but your partner still does not accept you, that is perfectly okay.
This is not just my advice. Ask any marriage and relationship guru or counsellor out there and they will tell you exactly the same thing.
The truth is you are not just compatible with each other. Do not just think of you and your partner. Think of your children as well.
Just imagine how they will feel if they see their parents arguing everyday?
6. Sharing Your Experiences
When I say sharing your experiences, I do not mean just sharing with those you feel comfortable and able to trust in solving your relationship problems and woes. But also with those who faced similar problems as you do or those just starting their relationship.
Life is not just about seeking help from people but helping them. Your advice does not have to be the best as those counsellors, gurus and professionals. So as it is relevant and practical to what people are looking for, that will do.
One best way to do is shoot a video of yourself sharing and uploading to sites like Youtube, Viddler and Facebook.
But if you are not good in talking, you can simply write in the form of articles like what I am doing now.
