Acne is defined as a skin condition during which the hair follicles get plugged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria. It eventually results in the appearance of whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples on the face, forehead, shoulders, upper chest, and back. It is generally a common problem, especially among the teenagers. Heath experts assert that teenagers get susceptible to acne breakouts during puberty, primarily due to hormonal changes. rnLuckily, it is a non-serious condition that can be easily treated with certain home remedies for pimples. Moreover, you can also put your confidence in the power of Ayurveda for alleviating your acne problems. rnAyurveda defines acne as “Yauvan Pidika” and believes it to be a manifestation of an aggravated Pitta Dosha. It acts under the skin and leads to heated toxins that eventually result in acne breakouts. In such a scenario, many Ayurveda experts claim that consuming a Pitta-pacifying diet can help in keeping acne problems at bay. rnAs suggested by Ayurveda, here are some effective remedies that can help you reduce the appearance of acne breakouts: 1. Amla Juice Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, is a great source of Vitamin C and possibly Ayurveda’s most valued possession when it comes to skin treatments. For instance, Amla is believed to contain at least 20 times more vitamin C than orange. Moreover, it boasts antioxidant properties that can protect you against the harmful effects of free radicals. You can have Amla juice or Murraba regularly to improve your acne condition. 2. Basil Holy basil, commonly known as Tulsi, is a sacred Indian herb that is loaded with healing properties. Various studies assert that basil has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that can allegedly help in alleviating acne problems. You can apply basil oil (mixed with water) directly on the affected area or simply crush some basil leaves for juice and apply. 3. Honey Honey is considered anti-bacterial in nature and is known to induce a soothing effect on the skin. It can effectively curb the irritation and redness that is usually followed by acne. You can directly apply a few drops of raw honey on your acne prone skin to alleviate the breakouts. 4. Turmeric (Haldi) Turmeric or haldi is loaded with a host of skin benefits, and thus, holds a notable place in Ayurveda as well as Indian tradition. It boasts antibacterial and antifungal properties, which makes it a great ayurvedic remedy for pimples and acne breakouts. Moreover, it is anti-allergic and aids in the cleansing of toxins from the skin pores. You can make a DIY haldi paste at home using haldi powder and rose water and simply apply it on the affected area. 5. Cumin-coriander fennel tea Cumin (jeera) and fennel (saunf) are two of the most used herbs in Ayurveda that are widely known for their digestive benefits. They help in keeping the heat generating toxins at bay that eventually helps in cooling down the body. You can make cumin-coriander fennel tea by boiling 1/3 tbs of each of the three ingredients with water. 6. Lemon Lemon juice is possibly one of the easiest and cheapest ways of clearing pimples. It not only boasts a good amount of vitamin C but also contains acids that possess acne fighting qualities. You can apply lemon juice directly on the acne prone area. Moreover, you can also include lemon tea as a part of your daily diet. 7. Triphala Triphala is one of the most common ingredients used in ayurvedic treatments and medicines. It balances the three Dosha (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) and detoxifies the whole body. It fights against bad bacteria and is known to assist in acne healing. rnAyurvedic treatments can be an effective remedy for acne breakouts. However, for better and faster results, it is advisable that you also apply the best OTC products for acne like AcneStar gel or AcneStar soap alongside. These products will not only improve your acne condition but also provide you a clear and glowing skin.
