“What does that guy do?” A question we often ask ourselves during moments of greediness, lack of self-worth and doubt. That moment when you see a 25-year-old kid drive up in a bright red, $40,000 sports car. That moment when we drive past a 10,000 square foot house. Those moments when all you can say is, “What does that guy do?” The innate drive to want something we can’t have is wired in us as human beings. It’s easy to say research has proved 10 different reasons why this drive occurs. My opinionated and highly argumentative theory; Our existence on earth is to carry out and achieve as much as we can, more than anyone else. I like to call it, ” Primitive Instinctual Motivation.” It’s a drive, a primitive instinct that provides us with the fire inside us we need to succeed. The Problem! We take that motivation and we use it against ourselves. We twist it as something negative, we use it to reconfirm our feelings of self-worth and doubt. We take it in comparison context. We compare what we have to what we don’t have. We base success on what someone else has achieved. I understand everybody compares. It’s how you compare that matters. Are your comparisons done as a question or a statement; (Question) I wish I had what that guy does, what does he do, how does he do it? or (Statement)Wow, that guy made it big, I can accomplish what he did, he is no different than me or anyone else! Those that made it BIG. The guy in the sports car, the owner of the massive house; they are no different than you and I. They have no extra special skills and many started off as middle class working Americans. What changed? They saw something they wanted and instead of comparing themselves to that person, they took that primitive instinctual motivation that we all have and believed this person was no different then them. What happened next? They went out and got it! I want to introduce you to “7steps to a more successful you!” Success may not always be as it seemsrnIt’s easy to look at someone and based on what they have view them as successful. We see it everyday in the news. Movies stars, CEO’s, professional athletes and Millionaires with the same types of issues we deal with in Middle Class America; divorces, financial issues, Drunk driving, Domestic Violence, law suits, foreclosure and many more. Little do we know, the guy in the amazing sports car is going through a divorce, lost custody of his kids, filed bankruptcy and just lost his house. Once you understand that success isn’t always what it seems, we stop comparing ourselves negatively to those who seem to have more. Base Success On What You Have Achieved, Not What You Haven’trnI came up with this saying a couple of years ago, however, I am not sure if it’s already been quoted similarly because I can’t find. If it isn’t I mark my name to it because it makes so much sense. Success is impossible unless you already appreciate the success you have. Stop basing success on what you don’t have; a new car, a nice house, unlimited financial resources. Start basing success on what you do have; A happy marriage, a roof over your head, food on the table, a job that provides for you and your family, a college education. The point is, unless you appreciate what you have achieved, success is difficult. Know What YOU wantrnSit down and decide what it is that you want; A better Job, a better relationship with your family, a newer car, more financial security, a home on 5 acres of a wooded lot, a stronger relationship with your children. What ever it be, you must know what you want in order to have success. Believe YOU are deserving of successrnKnowing what you want is pointless unless you believe you are deserving of success. Quit saying I wish I had something, but I don’t deserve it. Quit saying in your relationships that you don’t deserve your partner. Quit being negative and start understanding EVERYBODY deserves something and someone. When you believe you deserve success, success will find you, I promise! Find Someone Who has Accomplished What YOU WantrnFind someone who has accomplished what you want to achieve. Humans are like computers. We are designed to carry out the same things as someone else. If you follow the same path and the same outlook someone else did, theoretically, you can accomplish the same things. If you want to be a stage hypnotist, find someone who is really good at it. Talk to them, find out what and how they did it and begin implementing those techniques immediately. Visualize, Visualize, VisualizernI can’t say this one enough! If you want to be successful you need to visualize that you that ALREADY HAVE what you want. Notice I didn’t say visualize yourself wanting it, I said visualize that you ALREADY HAVE it. Ask yourself, What is it I want to achieve? How would my life be different if I already had it? What would it feel like if I had it right now? How would people view me differently? Than start visualizing yourself going to the office where you actually want to work, Sitting down in the desk in your new office, or driving home in your new car after work because you now make more money! See where I am going with this? Remove Should have, Could Have, Would Have from your Vocabulary.rnPut the words above in sentences and see how they are completely pointless; I should have tried harder in college. I could have gone so much farther in life if I would have just tried harder. I would have been all state if my coach and I would have gotten along better. Do see how ridicules these words are? We can’t change the past anymore than we can stop an earthquake. As long as you dwell on the past, it’s almost impossible to continue moving forward. 7 Steps to A More Successful You! I can’t guarantee results of success. Only you, the person, own and hold the key and motivation to prosperity, happiness and success. I can tell you that if you apply these 7 principles into your life NOW, you will be well on your way to a new successful you!
