One really great way to nurture leads and be more able to convert those leads into actual customers is to start sending out newsletters. This is a non-intrusive form of marketing that really works, as long as you put great content into those newsletters. You can accomplish a lot with a simple newsletter, and there are seven things that you should know before you send out your next newsletters: Know who your customers are: In order to really market effectively, you need to know who it is you are marketing to. Learn everything you can about your target customers, such as where they live, their income, lifestyle, and any other information that may be important to help you achieve the sales you want. Don't be intrusive: You shouldn't be sending out newsletters and other emails to people unless you already have their permission to do so. Otherwise, you are going to seem pushy, and people are not going to want to do business with you. What you should do is use “permission marketing”. Have an opt-in form on your web page that people can fill out information to receive your emails. Be invited, don't just barge in on them. Different voices for different newsletters: You will probably have to do a variety of newsletters, because you have a variety of potential customers. For example, if you are sending newsletters to other businesses, you will want to make it a bit more professional sounding than one that goes to the general public (of course, it still needs to be professional, but a little more casual at the same time). Use the right voice for your different newsletters to get the best results. Name your newsletter right: Believe it or not, the name you give your newsletter is sometimes almost as important as the content. You need to make sure that your brand is right out there for all to see, so that is going to be remembered. Name the newsletter for your type of business, and don't be too serious, especially if you want to attract younger customers. Don't make it too short or too long: Your newsletter should be long enough to convey your message, but not so long that your readers are going to become bored before they are finished reading it. Depending on who you are sending your newsletters to, some should be 450-600 words, while others may be less or more. Take a look at your target audience, and figure out which length will work best. Don't send newsletters out too often: If you are bombarding potential customers with all kinds of newsletters, chances are they are going to block them, and you won't get through to them at all. There is a fine line between too few and too many newsletters, and one rule of thumb is to only send out newsletters when you have a particular campaign or special offer going. Leverage newsletters by using social media: You can avoid sending out emailed newsletters if you take advantage of social media. You can post your newsletters, and subscribers can then read them at their leisure, and forward them off to others who they think may be interested. Use Facebook, Twitter and other socia networking websites to spread the word about your business, and save time and money doing it.
