In this crisis, companies around the globe have asked their employees to work from home. For some, it is a dream come true, for others it's a nightmare. But the most important thing to focus on during these times is to have proper nutrition. Let's know more about how to keep your nutrition in check when your home becomes the office. It can be tough to keep track of your nutrition while handling multiple projects from home. Unlike being in the office, people are free to binge all day. To top it all, the fridge with plenty of food is all yours. You may wander in the kitchen while you're on a conference call. Or eating crackers all day and end up eating the entire bag. Or maybe you get so engrossed in work that you forget to have your meals on time. Such habits can sabotage weight loss dreams, affect your focus on work, and even halt your productivity. Here, we discuss a few tips and hacks to eat healthily while you work from home. Plan your meal and snack timings: Just the way you plan your work schedule, you should also plan your eating schedule. Plan all your day's meal and snack times. Treat your food plan like you would in your office. Avoid eating all day and have portioned meals on time. Do not miss your meals: Often, work gets so hectic that we forget to have meals on time. Sometimes, it gets difficult to recognize those hunger signs while working. But missing your meals can hamper your productivity and alertness. So, make sure you eat and keep a track of your meal timings. Focus on nutritious food: Eating nutritious and balanced food will help us be more productive. Such foods keep you fuller and help you focus and stay alert. The food you eat affects your energy level and mood, so think twice before you grab something unhealthy. Focus more on fresh vegetables, fruits, proteins, healthy fats, and fibers. You can even plan your daily menu. Stay hydrated: One of the most important tips is to stay hydrated while you work from home. Again, constant calling and mailing can make you forget to sip water. Drinking water does more than just quench your thirst. Dehydration can cause fatigue, in turn, hampering your focus. Make sure to keep water bottles next to your desk, so that you don't have to walk to the kitchen. Also, stay away from soda or juices loaded with sugar. Keep a watch on your caffeine intake: Many have the habit of sipping endless cups of coffee while working. But too much caffeine is not good for your health. Excessive intake can cause anxiety, headache, fatigue, and even digestive issues -- none of which are good when you are working or trying to focus. One can have two cups of coffee per day provided you avoid high calories add-ins or the flavored creamers. Avoid junk food: When it comes to working from home, we might end up stocking our fridges with junk for the mini-breaks. Please avoid doing this. This might lead to unnecessary eating without even being hungry. Keep those food items out of your house which can trigger a binge for you. Out of sight, out of mind. Just eat, when you eat: Working and having lunch simultaneously is an unhealthy trait. Avoid this! Distraction during a meal can lead to decreased satiety (fullness) and even over-eating. Take a lunch-break just the way do at your office. Enjoy your lunch and relax for a few minutes. You will feel more energized to continue your work for the rest of the day. Keep A Food Journal: Keep a track of what works for you and what doesn't. Nutrition is highly personal. So, keep a food diary/journal to analyze your eating patterns and what are your energy levels throughout the day. During this pandemic, self-isolation is also necessary while you work from home. These weeks and months have been emotional and we need to also keep journaling about how we feel! In these tough times, you might observe sudden energy drop while working. But, make sure to eat healthy to eliminate the sluggishness. We all are adapting to this 'new normal' of working remotely, so its all about being gracious and taking life in stride.
