Now cut the new fabric into pieces of same size as that of old and repeat this process with all panels. 3. Upholster Arm Chair: Start the process of upholstery with the inside backs, arms and seat. If the wooden arm chairs required the backside to be assembled first, followed by inside back, arms, seat and the outside arms. Make sure that you secure each panel with a staple. Support the seat backs with cardboard, burlap, webbing or padding. 4. Upholster chair back: When upholstering the inside of the armchairs, place fabric over the back as well and make sure it is lined up. Secure it with a staple to hold it in place. Tuck the charming fabric through the back of the armchair frame and pull it tight. While pulling fabric through sides make sure you don't pull it too tight as it will make pattern crooked. Leave the bottom of the seat back unstapled until fabric panel of the seat is in place. 5. Upholster seat and inside arms: To give the armchair a new look place fabric on seat and spread out. If pattern on the fabric needs to be lined up with inside of the back, do it. Once seat is in place, fix it with staple. Take a look at your notes and staple, tuck or fold the fabric where needed. Secure all pieces in back of chair to frame. Repeat this process with inside arms. 6. Upholster outside arms: To upholster outside arms of the armchairs start by replacing and padding if there. Staple outside arm panels in place. Small armchairs are the best to use fabric remains. 7. Trim Fabric: After upholstering the inside backs, seats, chair backs and outside arms, cut off the excess fabric. Make sure you cut it as close to the staple line as possible. For a secure and nice upholstery apply a line of glue along the staples and press grim trim into it. Where trim ends meet, cut trim to size and secure ends together with hot glue.
