Do you have a bad odor in the bathroom? Annoying! In this blog we have listed some good tips to find out the source of the odor nuisance and to solve the problem. Does it not help? Then you can hire an expert to solve the problems. There are all kinds of causes for a foul odor in the bathroom. Plumbing experts are regularly called in for this problem. Based on the problems that they often encounter, we have listed below: 1: Clogged shower drain / drain The most common cause of odor in the bathroom is a clogged shower drain or a clogged drain. Soap residues, hair, dust: everything collects in the event of a blockage and can start to rot and stink enormously. Therefore make sure:
  • Regular cleaning of the shower drain
  • Rinse occasionally with extra hot water
  • Clean with some sparkling water to clear a blockage
  • Unblocking agent for a persistent obstruction
2: Moisture problems Moisture problems in the house are never good. Walls are affected, wallpaper peels off and fabric materials are stuffed. In humid rooms such as the bathroom, the chance of problems is greatest, so ensure good (mechanical) ventilation and extra ventilation after showering or bathing. 3: Mold An additional consequence of moisture problems in the home is mold. This is especially common in the bathroom. This fungus often starts as a small black dot on the ceiling or on the walls, but soon grows to become bigger and more. Mold creates a foul, musty smell in the bathroom. So clean! 4: Chemicals No matter how well-intentioned your house is. Some cleaning agents and chemicals cause more odor nuisance than the problem itself. For example, anti-scale agents, mold removers or unblockers can smell overwhelmingly dirty. So rnwherever possible, first opt for a natural remedy such as vinegar, soda or green soap. 5: Problems with the mechanical ventilation Most bathrooms have mechanical extraction / ventilation to prevent excess moisture. If the filters and channels are clogged, this can cause a bad odor in the bathroom. Regular cleaning is therefore recommended. 6: Dry siphon Does the smell come from your sink? Then it may also be that the siphon is dry. The gooseneck must always have a layer of water to work as a trap. Is it defective? Then a sewer air can escape into your bathroom. 7: Sewage problems toilet If there is also a toilet in the bathroom, there is of course the possibility that something is wrong with the sewer system. Maybe a blockage or a leak. Or a problem with the vent. Have it checked quickly by an expert! 8: Wet laundry Do you know the smell of laundry that has been in the washing machine for too long (wet)? Very dirty. Therefore, be careful not to put wet towels and washcloths together in an airtight laundry basket. This can cause a very dirty odor in your bathroom. A designer radiator for hanging towels after use can offer a solution. Bad smell in the Plumbing? Do you have a bad odor in the bathroom or if your plumbing smells, and are you unable to get rid of it? Also not with the above tips? Then we can perform an odor test or air test for you to find out what is going on. You will then know exactly what you can do to solve the problem.
