80 year old grandmother sky dives on her birthday!
We have seen that story and many found it amusing! Why would an elderly woman suddenly decide to risk her life in such a manner? Perhaps she is becoming demented or simply appears to have a suicide wish? Well you would be amazed to learn she actually is fulfilling a lifelong dream. A wish she has that is being fulfilled by her loved ones because she requested it. For Granny is gonna fly now!
For the thrill of a lifetime try skydiving!
Skydiving or parachuting is one of the most exhilarating experiences a person can ever have and no matter the age, can be enjoyed safely with an instructor who is experienced and well trained. That first jump will be in tandem, which is to say the new jumper will be connected to the instructor so they can safely make their free fall experience a memorable and safe one. Before anyone makes that first jump however there will be a bit of “classroom” preparation and training. Simply jumping from an airplane is only one small part of the actual sky dive because you also must learn how to land. While the pre-jump instruction lesson is brief, it is vital to the sky diver’s safety and attention to details must be kept. It will be difficult to remember all that has been told to the first time jumper when they leave the airplane for the very first time because they will be 1) scared silly! 2) and totally in awe of what they are witnessing!
Let the instructor be your guide for a safe and exciting first jump
Jumping in tandem with your instructor is the safest and most worry free method of making that first sky diving experience a happy and memorable one. Some will never go beyond that one single jump and will happily keep that memory with them forever. However those who go on to become experienced sky divers will find they can join groups that make it quite an enjoyable social time. Jumpers get together on weekends for group jumps and travel to exotic places to make their sky dive even more memorable. Once the basics are learned divers can move on to more challenging and entertaining ways to jump including accelerated forms of free fall in which they control the speed of their descent. Others love to linger up on high as long as possible and depending on the type of parachute they choose to employ, will have that opportunity.
Why jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
Ever since the invention of the airplane man has chosen to jump from them as a means of getting to places that would otherwise be difficult to reach or take an overly long amount of time to reach. Paratroopers jump from planes and helicopters to get “boots on the ground” quickly. Today we see fire fighters jumping to get ahead of forest fires in order to beat them back and save homes. But the most popular means of jumping or sky diving is done by average everyday people who just want the thrill of free fall and to have the control over their descent. Perhaps they want to know what it is like to be a bird and fly. Whatever the reasons skydiving is an enormously popular sport and pastime enjoyed by millions each day somewhere on this planet.
