The first time you saw it, you might have chuckled to yourself and asked "why in the world does a pet need a stroller?" But, the more you think about it, the more it makes sense. Pet strollers, very similar to baby strollers, allow pets to be taken places where they otherwise could not go, while allowing owners to do things that they could not do before. Instead of laughing at the possibility, consider what a pet stroller can do for you and your pet.

Let’s begin with disabilities. Older pets may not be able to move around like they did in the past. Just because they aren’t as mobile as they used to be does not mean that they want to spend all their time indoors. A stroller will allow you to take your pet out of the house without fear of injury or exhaustion. The same is true in reverse. Elderly or handicapped owners may have trouble controlling their pet on a leash. The stroller provides comfort for the pet and more control for the owner. It can also be used to help with the owner’s balance.

Strollers allow you to take your pets places that you could not take them before. For instance, if you need to run into work for an hour or stop by the mall, there is no sense in leaving your dog at home. A stroller provides a place to relax, while providing protection for strangers. If your pet is still in the beginning stages of proper socialization, then the use of a stroller at a dog park can help with the learning experience, while keeping everyone and every animal safe.

If you have multiple pets, then strollers are a great alte
ative to carrying multiple leashes. Although your animals will need exercise out of the stroller, it is much easier to transport multiple small pets in a stroller. Or, what if you have a cat and a dog? Your dog gets to go outside for daily walks, while your cat watches longingly from the window. With a stroller, you can walk your dog and push your cat! Both get to enjoy being outdoors.

There are a number of other things that strollers can be used for; use depends on your daily life. A stroller can protect a pet at the veterinarian’s office or transport an injured animal. Strollers are alte
atives to carriers for travel and transportation purposes. There is no heavy lifting involved with a stroller. If you have a fearful pet, then the protection of riding in the stroller can help him overcome fearful situations. It can be dangerous walking to the dog park if you live on a busy street. As an alte
ative to a leash, you can also use the stroller while traveling to the park. Once there, it can easily be pushed while your pet walks beside it. If he tires quickly, then you can place him in the stroller and continue your exercise routine.

What you want in a stroller depends on your lifestyle and taste. If you spend a lot of time outdoors in all sorts of terrain, the PetGear AT3 stroller is a good fit. The three-wheel design makes it easier to push on rough or bumpy surfaces, while the large tires provide extra support and ease of use when hiking. Like the AT3, the Jeep Rubicon makes use of the three-wheel design. This stroller includes an emergency brake, a tire pump, and reflectors for added safety during your time spent outdoors. If you are looking for something simpler, then consider PetGear’s Ultralight stroller. This stroller is a great size for toy breeds. When folded, the stroller is only eight inches high, making it perfect for car storage.

Pet strollers may seem strange; but, in all actuality, they fulfill a number of functions. Whether your pet is sick, aging, or aggressive, a pet stroller can provide comfort and protection from the outside world. The strollers are also great for animals that are not leash trained. Strollers make your life easier, because you are able to take your pet along to almost any place. There are different types and styles of strollers; with a little searching, you will be able to find the perfect one to fit your lifestyle!
