The two women greeted each other enthusiastically in the dog exercise park. They hadn't seen each other in a while. Originally they had met at puppy school where both of their dogs had entertained everyone else with their cute playfulness and high-jinks. As they watched on, the two dogs played together happily. Clearly, even though these dogs were now older they still remembered each other. After watching the dogs romp for a while, the two women made moves to leave. While Oliver came straight away and sat obediently while his leash was being attached, the same couldn't be said for Mac. Mac, perhaps realizing play time was over, refused to come when called. After chasing him around the park, his owner finally managed to tackle him to connect the lead. "You are so lucky that Oliver comes when you call him. Mac is still so naughty. I have almost no control over him when he is out playing with the other dogs. What's the secret?" Since Oliver's owner genuinely felt sorry for the other woman she told her. "I noticed that Oliver never really progressed at that puppy school. We had problems with him misbehaving at home, it seemed like he kept forgetting what we were practicing at school. Our other issue was that no-one else at home could ever get to the lessons so they were getting the instructions second hand from me. " "Since we really wanted Oliver to be a proper family member, and well behaved out in public we thought we should try something else. We didn't want him to end up always at home because we couldn't trust him enough to take him out with us. " "So what did you do instead?" asked Mac's owner curiously. "Well I know you are going to maybe think it sounds funny, but we are doing online dog training lessons." "You're right, I never would have thought of that myself. So you mean you look at the lessons on the computer or laptop?" "Yes, and better still everyone else can watch them with me. So now they can all see what they need to do and not do to get Oliver to behave appropriately. We all take turns practicing with him when anyone is free. So that way he is getting practice every day of the week instead of just the one lesson at the school. " "Some weeks we do better than others, but we just progress along at out own pace. When Oliver is ready for the next lesson everyone in the family moves along." "The one thing that none of us really realized were all the mixed signals that Oliver was receiving. Now, with the dog training online lessons we are all on the same page, and we all use the same sorts of voices and body language. Oliver doesn't seem to be confused anymore and is really coming along quickly." "I have to say I am a bit envious. It is getting to be that I dread taking Mac out because I am never sure that I will be able to get him back in the car when we have finished" replied the owner of Mac. "Well it's working for us. We think Oliver will end up being a lot more free as he will know his boundaries and we can trust him. He has become a great fit for our family and we just love taking him out."
