"What are your beliefs?"

Do they limit your success? Not just financial, career or business but even your basic everyday happiness?

Do you have limiting beliefs? That is the bottom line? These beliefs are stories like

"I cannot lose weight. It's in my genes. My parents were the same." "I can't do that. I'm not confident enough. When I'm confident ill do it." "I can't save money. Money is something I never seen to have." "I couldn't start a business I don't have the time." "I can't start a business. I have a family to support." "I can't start a family. I have a business to run."

All these are limiting beliefs. Notice I use the word 'beliefs'. That means they are not truths. However to us they may certainly feel like truths. Beliefs are just stories that society has just told us and we have accepted them.

Have you heard the PIKE story? I heard it a long time ago then at a Coaching course in London last week I heard it again and it reminded me.

The Pike Story

A few years ago an experiment was done. There was a large fish tank, and in this fish tank they placed a group of minnows (small fish for the technical people like me?!) and they quite happily swam about. Latter on they introduced a nice Pike. (Big nasty fish. To the minnows anyway!) Obviously being hungry he started to chomp away.

After a few days of adding more minnows to feed the pike, they placed a large glass tank over the minnows so that the Pike could see them, but not eat them. For a day or two, the pike would bang his nose on the glass tank in attempt to get to the small fish, until he started to learn that trying to eat the minnows, was actually quite painful! Gradually he backed off and stopped trying to eat them. But here's the thing...

THEY THEN REMOVED THE GLASS TANK COVERING THE MINNOWS.

The Pike was now able to eat the small fish. BUT he didn't. He left them alone. He had learnt that it hurt to try to eat them. The minnows swam around free with their tails brushing past the Pikes nose, and he left them alone. The sad story is that the Pike eventually died of starvation despite the food being available.

Are there opportunities for you to do big things in your life, but you are just not taking them because you learnt that sometimes it hurts a bit if it doesn't go as planned? Or it's outside of your comfort zone? Have people or life almost conditioned you to think you are not worthy of a fantastic figure or an amazing life style?

There are no tanks in your life!

The food is available for the taking. You just need to start re programming your empowering beliefs.

"I can lose weight. It's in my genes." "I can do that. I'm confident enough." "I can save money. Money is something I always seen to have." "I can start a business I do have the time." "I can start a business. I have a family to support." "I can start a family because I have a business I control."

When you put yourself down, remember...

THERE ARE NO TANKS

All the best
