Would you describe yourself as bursting with vitality, energy, love, joy, enthusiasm, passion and excitement? Or would you describe yourself as tired, anxious, stressed, confused, worried, sad, depressed, angry, bitter, disappointed, frustrated, and overwhelmed? Most of us hold on to old hurts and traumas, and many add new hurts on top of the old. Yet everyone’s had a moment that made him or her burst with energy, joy, delight, and enthusiasm. Remember one of those moments now and how your body felt. Even remembering it brings back the vibrant, tingly sensation in your body. Being in a positive emotional state helps us gain and maintain health, while a negative one leads to the opposite.n nWant to release old traumas and burst with energy and vitality? Use the following techniques: (1) Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and (2) the Law of Attraction. nnEmotional Freedom Techniquesnn EFT is an extraordinary technique for eliminating emotional and physical problems by rebalancing the energy system of the body. Our bodies’ energy system interacts with our thoughts, emotions, and physical bodies. Since our thoughts and emotions are energy, they in turn affect the energy system. Thus when our bodies’ energy system is out of balance, it influences our overall health.n nImagine this energy system like a simple household electrical circuit. When you turn on a light switch, electrical current flows through a pathway provided by electrical cables that subsequently pass through a lightbulb, causing it to shine. You are similar. As long as your energy system is open and flowing, your light shines, whereas negative experiences or emotional traumas inhibit the energy system, and that is analogous to turning off a light switch. n nEFT consists of tapping with the fingertips on strategic points on the face and body to stimulate the energy system while bringing to mind a specific problem—whether an addiction, pain, or traumatic event—and stating affirmations about the topic. This process clears the short circuit from the body’s energy system, thus restoring balance to the mind and body. This restoration of balance simply eliminates emotional problems and many resulting physical problems. n nCan being healthy be as simple as unblocking your energy flow so that you feel better, emotionally and physically? EFT practitioners find that it has a great effect. Let’s do a round of EFT on health so that you can get an idea of what it is all about. n nNotice a tension in your body. Where is it? How intense is it on a scale of 0–10, where 10 represents maximum tension? Begin by tapping on the karate chop point, the fleshy part on the outside of one of your hands, with the fingers of your other hand. Then state out loud, “Even though I feel tension in my body, I love and accept myself. Even though I worry about my health, I love myself completely. Even though I don’t know how to stop worrying about my health, I love myself.”n nNow use two or three fingers of either hand to tap on the following points while stating the accompanying affirmation out loud:nn* Eyebrow: “I feel tension in my [name area of tension].” n* Side of the eye: “I hold stress there. It feels tight.”n* Under the eye: “My body is tense.”n* Under the nose: “I feel so anxious that I forget to breathe deeply. Then my cells don’t get enough oxygen to function well.”n* Chin: “I hold on to my fears and anxiety. It stops my energy from flowing.”n* Collar bone: “I keep telling myself that I’m not healthy.” n* Under the arm: “No wonder my body doesn’t feel good. I keep telling it how poorly it functions.”n* Eyebrow: “I breathe deeply. The stress leaves my body.”n* Side of the eye: “I relax. The tension drops off.” n* Under the eye: “I let go of my anxiety now. It is OK to do so. I choose to relax.”n* Under the nose: “I choose to have a healthy body.”n* Chin: “I let my energy flow. My body knows how to be healthy. I choose to get out of the way and let it do its job.”n* Collar bone: “I feel so relieved to let go of this stress. My body relaxes. My body is healthy. My body is bursting with energy.”n* Under the arm: “I can breathe deeply now, and that nourishes my body. My body thanks me for sending more life-giving oxygen. My body is bursting with energy and health.”n* Top of the head: “I love myself completely and profoundly. I love my body and appreciate that it knows how to create and maintain perfect health.”n nTake a deep breath.n nDid all or some of the tension release? Do you feel relaxed? This example shows how EFT shifts the body’s energy system. Shifts may occur in one round of EFT, like what we just did, or after repeated rounds including different wording. Either way, EFT is a fabulous tool to move toward greater health. nnThe Law of Attractionnn The Law of Attraction states that anything on which you focus your energy or attention is drawn to you. So how can you use the Law of Attraction to obtain better health? Become aware of your inner dialog to become aware of what you attract into your life. What do you say to yourself? How often do you say something negative about your body and health? Something positive?n nLet’s change some negative statements to positive ones:nn* I’m tired. ? I feel refreshed when I take three deep breaths.n* My body aches. ? I stretch to maintain flexibility.n* I feel old. ? I have wonderful memories reminding me to enjoy each moment of my day. That keeps me young.nn Which would you rather attract? n nWhy is it important to use the Law of Attraction? Changing your focus restructures the neural net within your brain by breaking old and creating new associations about being healthy. Think of your mind as a recorded tape. Essentially, you are erasing the unwanted and recording new information about being healthy.n nTake a look at your inner dialog. Have fun creating a vibrant, healthy body by changing your inner dialog into something positive, uplifting, and joyous.
