Colorado, The Next Wine Country

This is the best kept secret around, wine country among the red rocks of Colorado. There are three areas in Colorado that have wine tasting and vineyards, some of them are real adventures of dirt roads and funny little signs to get to the jewel of the tasting rooms and the actual vineyards.

What is very interesting these wineries and vineyards have been around for years and are making award winning wines. They take their wine making very serious even though one of the wineries has very unique and funky names for their wines.

Just a little heads up here, you won't find any of these areas on the beaten popular tourist trap areas, it will be an adventure and an adventure worth trip. The first area I am going to introduce you to is the North Fork Valley/West Elks because it is the most versatile one, it not only has vineyards but it has home farmed meat and produce and the food is out of this world. The place to stay and visit is Leroux Creek Inn & Vineyards and the owners will give you personalized attention and stories of the region.

Four Corners is for the true wine explorer, this is the smallest of the three areas but it is worth the trip. In this southern Colorado area it is now sublime wine, artists, transplanted chefs, innkeepers and of course winemakers and all of the highest quality.

Grand Valley has the most vineyards and wineries and it is probably the easiest to get to, so you don't want to miss this area. You can fly into Grand Junction and then road trip the rest of the areas, put on your adventurers hat and get ready for a real experience in the New Wine Country. n
