A positive thinking attitude was missing in some of my friend’s She didn’t realize it, but having negative concepts in her affirmations -- thinking, attitudes and behavior that she wanted to eliminate -- was actually the very reason why she couldn’t eliminate them. We’ll look at this example below. nnYou must not have negative terms and concepts in your affirmations. Since like attracts like, any negative terms in your affirmations will attract more of the same.nnIf you have thinking, attitudes or behavior that you wish to eliminate, the last thing you should do is to actually describe what you’re trying to change! This is simply the Law of Attraction objectively working out in your life. You might have good intentions and positive desires, but your affirmations must not contain negative terms or you will undermine the whole process. nnHere are the affirmations that were problematic:n
    n
  • I am willing to release old, negative beliefs.n
  • I am willing to release the need to interrupt.n
  • I am willing to release the need to talk compulsively.n
  • I am willing to release the need to be in control.n
  • I am willing to release the need for uncomfortable relationships.nn
nYou can see that my friend’s using the term “I am willing to release,” was an attempt to psychologically and emotionally “let go” of the negative attitudes and behaviors. nHere is what is wrong with putting the daily affirmations in this way:n
    n
  • The only focus was on what she was trying to eliminate.n
  • There is no mention whatsoever of positive behaviors she desires.n
  • The affirmations reinforce the pervasive presence and power of the n the undesired behaviors !nn
nBecause she didn’t have a positive thinking attitude in these daily affirmations, there was no path, no direction and no goal! Repeating these affirmations can only reinforce their power in the subconscious mind. nn“Reframing” simply means to look at a circumstance, situation or concept from a different “angle.” Doing this will usually provide a fresh and helpful perspective. nLet’s look at my friend’s affirmations from a positive thinking attitude perspective and see what a dramatic difference in feeling that is aroused:n
    n
  • I have a solid foundation of positive, self-affirming beliefs.n
  • I enjoy listening patiently listening while others talk.n
  • I am comfortable with thoughtful silence in another’s presence. n
  • I am comfortable with the wonder of being led by circumstances and n situations.n
  • I seek, enjoy and have comfortable relationships.nn
nWhat a difference there is in these daily affirmations now. There was a shift from describing nagging, frustrating and habitual behavior that is undesired to reinforcing positive, empowering and attractive behavior. nnIf you have negative thinking, attitudes and behavior that have a lot of emotional power associated with them, you must be ruthlessly positive in your developing daily affirmations. Focusing on and accentuating the positive things that you deeply desire is a powerful way to utilize the Law of Attraction. nnYes, you do need to “release” any need to compulsively hold on to self-defeating behaviors. However, your focus must then be on a ruthlessly positive thinking attitude so that your whole being, both conscious and subconscious, is on what you desire. nnThe emotional power of what you deeply desire will fill your conscious and subconscious mind so that there is nothing left for the previously undesired behavior to “hold onto.” Since you are no longer entertaining the negative, undesired behavior, the positive, self-affirming and energizing desired behavior will dominate.nnBe careful and review your daily affirmations. Make sure there is nothing but positive, affirming and emotionally energizing language in them. As you develop new ones, start thinking positive and get into the habit of reframing undesired behavior. You will find that this positive thinking attitude will become your “modus operandi” in regard to not only to your affirmations, but also your whole attitude and approach to life!nnn
