Are you a fan of the Biggest Loser TV show? Many of our clients love that show. It is very inspirational to watch people working so hard to achieve their weight loss goals. Who would have thought anyone could lose 100 pounds in just 8 weeks thought diet and exercise alone. It shows what the human body is capable of doing in the right environment, with the right support and motivation.

The contestants on the show are taken to a ranch away from their everyday life. They are able to exercise for 4 to 6 hours a day, they do not have to worry about shopping for food or any of the everyday stressors, they have many healthy food choices around, support from their trainers and they can just focus on their goals. This is not how most of us lose weight.

This is the first season of the Biggest Loser I have been able to watch. Although I enjoy the show and enjoy watching the contestants lose weight and really dig deep to move forward towards their goals, I hear many people wanting to have those 6 to 10 pound weight loss week after week like those contestants. In my experience, this is not what most people can expect on their weight loss journey.

If you really want to lose weight and keep it off, I believe slow and steady wins the race. Losing about a pound a week is manageable for most people and through this slow steady weight loss; you are able to incorporate healthy lifestyle habits into your daily routine. Most people do not have time for 4 to 6 hour workouts at the gym, but you can find at least 30 minutes several times a week to exercise.

If you really want to lose weight, it starts with a clear focus on your goals. What do you want to accomplish? Why do you want to lose the weight? How will life be different once you have reached your goal weight? What will losing weight get you? Take some time to answer these questions. Uncover your motivation to lose weight and it will help you focus on what you want instead of what you do not want.

Many of the contestants on the Biggest Loser gain all or most of their weight back after they finish the show. They lost the weight so quickly they never had a chance to mentally adjust to the dramatic change in appearance. Seeing yourself as a healthy, fit person is just as important as actually being a healthy and fit person.

Small focused steps daily will build momentum to reach your long-term goals. Start today to commit to making at least one small step a week to transform your body and mind into a healthy, fit and energetic person and soon you will be what you focus your mind on.

Movement is one of the most honest forms of self-connection. The body never lies. It holds stress, records emotion, and reveals when something feels off. For many, this is why exercise has always been more than fitness; it’s therapy through motion. But not all movement heals. Some styles exhaust, others distract. True healing often begins in the slow, intentional kind, the kind that lets the body lead and the mind follow.rnThat’s where precision-based training, such as re
