The first aid system works in the stressful situation of handling a critical patient, so why not this system with our lives. The ultimate goal here is, through treatment ending up in a better place. So, to turn your life around, to make it successful the first step is to make a start. Like in a grand prix that can last for hours and then be won by a few seconds, to the winner goes the prize, but in relation to the whole race the winner is only a fraction of a percentage better.nnn“Eighty percent of success is showing up.” -- Woody AllennnnNow, to relate basic first aid to first aid for life.nn FIRST AID SYSTEM n Dangern Responsen Airwayn Breathingn Circulationn Depth of Consciousnessn Examinationn Fracturesn Get going Hospitalnn FIRST AID FOR LIFE SYSTEMn Decisions & Choicesn Responsibility, Resolve & Relationshipsn Action & Attitude n Belief & Balancen Commitment, Character & Change n Dreams/Goals & Disciplinen Education, Environment & Emotionn Focus, Foundation & Frameworkn Get Started & Grown Help & HabitsnnDanger – check for danger. The danger that most people are in is that life and living has snuck up on you and set you adrift. You are in danger of losing control of your life and future as a result of the Decisions and Choices you have made so far. So you need to make a Decision to do something and consider the Choices you make, where you go and what you do from here on in.nnResponse - are you alive or dead? Are you in a rut; that’s a grave without the ends. We need to take Responsibility for where we are now, make responses to our situation and Resolve (no turning back) to do something about it. Unless we admit to the situation we are in, how can we take Responsibility for our future? A big part of that has to do with other people and our Relationships with everything from those people to money to food.nnAirway – the first of the essentials for life. Unless we have an airway we cannot move on. Our first essentials for success are Action and Attitude. We need to be moving (Action) to make adjustments (Attitude) if we want to go somewhere. A good example would be, without action-engine force and attitude-wing position a plane wouldn’t get off the ground and neither will your future.nnBreathing – the second of the essentials for life. Belief in yourself and your actions needs to be a natural response just as breathing is. Beliefs about you, what happens around you and to you all need to be considered. You have to believe in yourself and where you’re going before others can believe in you. Like breathing in and out steadily and evenly; you also need to be and have all aspects of your life in Balance.nnCirculation - the third essential. Blood needs to be constantly moving around the body, again associated with movement. Commitment to new paths or a new way of doing things is going to require a development of your Character. This will require some minor tweaks for some, through to major alterations and change of direction for others, all Changes that may be required to commit to this forward movement.nnDepth of Consciousness - are you in a coma, unconscious or aware. This is the brain were talking about. We need to have Dreams and Goals that colour our imagination to guide us otherwise we slip into a life coma and just going through the motions. Dreams and Goals provide us with the road map to where we want to go, they need to have detail, colour and have some time lines on them. Discipline is what gets us those goals.nnExamination - we too need an overall checkout of our life. Just as we are Educating ourselves by examining the patient so we need to educate and develop ourselves. Education is the difference between where we are and where we want to go. A huge influence on our input is the Environment in which we live and we need to understand how that affects us. Emotion is the glue that holds everything together and becomes the driving force behind all of our advances.nnFractures - need to be splinted so they can't move and so that the bones are aligned. So it is that we Focus in on what needs to be done and keep everything we do in alignment because the Foundation & Framework are what hold us up and around which everything is built. Unless the Framework and Foundations are straight and true we are building our future on a shaky structure.nnGet Going – the last action step and probably most important. We need to fire up and Get Started and get moving. We need to Grow measurably in all aspects of our life because this determines the fruit on our tree and if you’re not growing you’re stagnating. First we crawl, and then we walk, all before we can run, but what if we want to fly? All things are possible if you take the first step to Get Started and Grow.nnHospital - this is where the real treatment starts. It’s been temporary, short term, a band-aid up until now. Like getting the patient to the hospital to get the best and further Help, we need the help of a coach or mentor. We need to harness all we have learned and roll this into developing the Habits that we need to take you from here to literally wherever you want to go. nnIf you don’t turn it into something the hard work has been wasted. This has been the goal to get us to the point where we can really start to work on building a future. nn“Success is living up to your potential. That's all.
