When increasing your vertical leap, there are two things that you need to work on, strength and explosiveness. Strength training for your legs involves building muscle. As you build more muscle, your strength increases. Training to increase your explosiveness involves plyometrics. Plyometrics is a type of exercise designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and to improve the functions of the nervous system. n When building your leg strength, the two muscles that you need to work on are the calf muscles and the quadriceps. The most common way to build strength for the calf muscles is to do calf raises. The most common way to build strength for the quadriceps is to do squats. n Increasing your explosiveness involves plyometrics. Plyometric exercises use explosive movements to develop muscular power, and it improves the functions of the nervous systems. Some different exercises include squat jumps, zigzag hops, bounding, tuck jumps and much more.
You should do about three workouts each week. After finishing your workouts, it’s important that you get at least a day of rest. Reaching your goal takes dedication and commitment. If you start to slack off, your jumping ability will eventually start to decrease.
