It’s not how hard you work, it’s how smart you work. Just because you have heard this before does not make it any less important. There is nothing in the world wrong with working hard, but if you are not working smart as well, you are wasting your time. And the first step to working smart is setting proper priorities. Use these 3 simple steps to set your priorities so that your business can make even more money.
1. Organize or agonize – when starting your own business, there are so many things to do. You have to get your website up and running, you have to market your website, you have to create your products. So you need to determine what is absolutely necessary and set priorities to do what must be done. Without priorities, you will be tempted to do everything at once, and you will generally get nothing done. Determine what is important, set priorities, and follow them.
2. Don’t settle for the good, get the best instead – when setting priorities, you may find that there are many good things that must be done. You may need to increase your marketing efforts, but you also need to write a new e-book for your customers. Which one do you choose? Here are some questions to ask yourself:n a. Which one is most important to your customers?n b. Which one gives you the greatest return?n c. Which one can you get done first?
3. Don’t get paralyzed by priorities – one thing you should be careful not to do is try to perfect everything before you start. When I first started my online business, I tried to get things just right before I began. Before I wrote articles, I wanted to learn how to write great titles. Before I wrote my first e-book, I wanted to research every topic inside and out. Because I tried to get everything absolutely correct before I started, I never started. Sometimes you just have to get started. You won’t be perfect, but you will be making progress, and that is usually the most rewarding part.
