There is simply nothing more attractive than someone who is authentic and confident being who they are meant to be.
Remember when you were growing up, and you would hear people say "Just be yourself"? That was good advice, but many of us just did not know it then. We were too concerned with trying to fit in that we could not focus on what it actually meant. We just wanted to be accepted.
How much does your need to be "accepted" by others still exist? How many people do you know who are caught up trying to fit in and keep up with people who could care less about them? Is that you or someone you know?
As adults, many of us still find these types of issues to be some of our biggest personal challenges. It is partly because the world is constantly telling us who we should be, what we should look like, what we should have, what we should do, and even the type of spouse or significant other with whom we should spend our lives.
And, it is partly because our spirit may still be broken from some past hurt. We may have feelings of insecurity and suffer from low self-esteem. We may want to really be loved but have not truly taken the time or learned how to love ourselves first. We may end up not making smart choices in the people to whom we trust our hearts, bodies, finances, and lives.
The greatest joy about living is that it is a journey, an ongoing process that continues until you die. While you may not get a "do-over", you have plenty of chances to "do better". Always remember that you do have choices - in every part of your life.
The choices before you may not be pretty all the time, but you are often led to crossroads and tough decisions so that you can grow. By making the hard choices, you create a more authentic and peaceful life with fewer regrets and pitfalls. Wouldn't you prefer to look back on your life and say "It was all worth it" instead of "I wasted so much time and energy being miserable in a situatio
I was just too afraid to change"?
Courage is the foundation for a fulfilling life. You do not have to jump in full body, all at once though. You can start by dipping a toe, taking baby steps. The first step is getting up the nerve to even try to change.
Being your authentic self allows you to tap into your internal storehouse of courage. Whatever situation you may be facing, know that you are built to last. You can and will make it through whatever it is and emerge less burdened down and more clear-headed than before.
Life ebbs and flows...you have to be resilient and learn to "roll with it baby". Take life seriously, but don't take yourself too seriously. Courage helps you take the risks that make your heart remember that it is alive. When was the last time you felt butterflies in your stomach? When was the last time you laughed so much or so hard that you cried? When was the last time you truly felt joy?
Let go of other people's expectations for who you should be. Set your own! Let go of other people's boundaries and values for your life. Define and set your own! Give up trying to impress other people. It never works for long.
Usually, when someone does not accept you for who you are, they will always find something "wrong" with you, yet another thing that you should "fix". You are just fine, and you are just the way you are supposed to be - once you find your way back to the real you. :)
Self-esteem and self-confidence both begin with "self". It all begins with re-defining who you are, having a support system that is nonjudgmental, and taking steps to show the world the new true you.
Focus on becoming courageous enough to live as your authentic self. Doing so will give you a glow and confidence that no one will be able to touch, trample on, or resist! You will be unforgettable - in every way positive. Authenticity is oh so attractive.

Quit Inflicting “BUT” on Yourself!
While I was waiting for my dance class to start, I watched an instructor patiently coach a couple through what was obviously one of their first lessons. The instructor was having them do a “box step,” which is what it sounds like. A “box” made with your feet. It consists of two parts, a forward half box and a backward half box. Each half box has three steps: a step forward or backward, a step to the side, and a step to close the feet together. The instructor was counting out
