Many times pets are our best friends. I have personally had two mixed breed dogs that lived over 22 years old, 1 cockatiel and I am now with my first cat Midnite. Midnite is a rescued cat who came to me full of fear. Free spirited, fully clawed and not always friendly but I know he loves me and he knows I love him. I give him his “space” and we co-exist together nicely. He likes it when I make him treats.nnHere are some treats you can make for your pet friends to create a "happy space and happy face"!nGuidelines:nnDOGS:nDogs tend to like liver, fat, garlic, onions, lamb, beef, cheese and fish.nYou can add these ingredients to the treats below to mix them up!nnCATS:nCats tend to like chicken, fish, liver, turkey, lamb, and yeast.nYou can add these ingredients to the treats below to mix them up!nDon’t give your kitty too many rocking treats or they may refuse to eat their regular meals. They need a balanced diet just like you.nnDon’t feed cats onions, or starchy vegetables like peas and corn and not too much tuna!n nDOGS AND CATS:n nIt's a good idea to always add a grain, such as Kibble, wheat germ, cooked oatmeal or whole wheat bread to snacks.nnKeep extras in airtight containers and freeze them if not eaten in a few days.nnRECIPES:nnFat Browniesn

  • 1 cup cornmealn
  • 2 eggsn
  • 1 cup hulled milletn
  • 1 tsp. finely ground cuttlebonen
  • drizzle liquid honey or agave nectarn
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flourn
  • 2 tbsp. raw wheat germn
  • 4 egg yolksn
nnPreheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Pat into a greased and floured baking dish.nnBake for 30 minutes or until firm. Cool and cut into cute shapes.nStore in an air tight container.nnOh My Gosh These are Jamming Liver Cookies:nPreheat oven to 350 degrees F.nMix 1/2 cup dry milk and 1/2 cup wheat germ; drizzle 1 teaspoon honey on top.nMix up 4oz of liver in the blender until smooth. Mix all together and balls; place them on an oiled cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork.nnBake 8 to 10 minutes. Consistency should be fudgy.nStore in a jar in the fridge; freeze if keeping more than a few days.nnMake Me Want to Dance Beef Cookies:nPreheat oven to 350 degrees F.nMix 1/2 cup dry milk and 1/2 cup wheat germ; drizzle 1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar on top.nMix up 4oz of beef or sirloin in the blender until smooth. Mix all together and form balls; place them on an oiled cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork.nnBake 8 to 10 minutes. Consistency should be fudgy.nStore in a jar in the fridge; freeze if keeping more than a few days.nnCalifornia Vegetarian Animal Cookies:nPreheat oven to 350 degrees F.nMix 1/2 cup dry milk and 1/2 cup wheat germ; drizzle 1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar on top.nTake the skin off then cut up 4oz of eggplant into small pieces. Blend in the blender with a small amount of water until smooth. Mix all together and form balls; place them on an oiled cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork.nnBake 8 to 10 minutes. Consistency should be fudgy.nStore in a jar in the fridge; freeze if keeping more than a few days.nnSwimming for Fish Cookies:nPreheat oven to 350 degrees F.nMix 1/2 cup dry milk and 1/2 cup wheat germ; drizzle 1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar on top.nMix up 3 ½ oz of mashed boned mackerel until smooth. Mix all together and form balls; place them on an oiled cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork.nnBake 8 to 10 minutes.nStore in a jar in the fridge; freeze if keeping more than a few days.n nnDoggy Rocking Morselsn

  • 1/2 cup melted beef or pork drippingsn
nnPreheat oven to 350 degrees F.nMix ingredients together with water to make stiff dough.nRoll out and cut into fun shapes. Bake on cookie sheet until hard. nStore in a jar in the fridge; freeze if keeping more than a few days.n nnKitty Cheesy Morselsn

  • 3/4 cup white flourn
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheesen
  • 5 tablespoons grated parmesan cheesen
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt or sour creamn
  • 1/4 cup cornmealn
nnPreheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine cheeses and yogurt then add the flour and cornmeal. Add a small amount of water f needed to create dough.nKnead dough into a ball and roll to 1/4 inch. Cut into one inch sized pieces and place on greased cookie sheet.nnBake for 25 minutes.
