Success, achievement and material possessions produce fleeting moments of euphoria: we celebrate and invite friends to see our new home or car and are happy when we wear new clothes for the first time. Luxury, comfort and riches, however, are not the ingredients of true happiness. They give pleasure that, given the fear of loss, sooner or later becomes pain. This is conditional happiness.

In this world we are taught everything except how to be ourselves, to know ourselves and how to share our love freely and joyfully. We are obliged to be something we are not, to do what we don’t want to do, to be or stay with someone we don’t want to be with, all so as not to lose the comfort we depend on, to not suffer and not be alone; this however is the root of our suffering. It is a lack of consciousness.

The suffering that you may be feeling today because nothing or nobody fulfils you, you feel because you are asleep, you are not conscious. You’ve been taught that to love is to manipulate, to be jealous, to judge, to demand, to dominate and that to love you must be permanently tied to one person, that you cannot be happy if not with that one person all the time.

This is why the first move you make must is to open your mind and to understand that you must change your way of thinking. Give yourself a new opportunity and profoundly analyse how you are living your life. Remember that only inner peace will give you true happiness.
