It is possible to overcome Depression without the use of drugs? Yes it is, YOU have to want to have a better life. The decision to change is up to you and you have to make the commiment to take responsibitlity.
Depression is one of the most misunderstood illnesses, If you have never had depression you do not understand what the person is going through. It is also very stressful for the family members to know how to deal with a depressed person.
I was diagnosed with depression in 1978 after the death of my brother I was put on all sorts of drugs anti-depressants, tranquilizers, and sleeping medication and told by the medical profession I had to be on them for life. I was kept on this for 17 years. In 1992, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy this did not help my depression the following year my mom passed away, my eldest daughter got married and left the country to live in the UK. All of this caused my wheels to come off and I had a massive nervous breakdown. I went to a fantastic psychologist who recommended I go for Reflexology treatments to learn to relax. The Reflexology and the Psychologist did wonders for me. I came off all the medication very slowly and now live a wonderful life. As a result of the reflexology treatmetns I began to study reflexology and now run my own full time practice. I specialize in depression, anxiety and panic attacks. Over the years I have developed a one day workshop which I run in South Africa as well as an online course.
One thing that I found very important after I came off the drugs, I had to find the self-esteem which I lost for many years this was another reason for the workshop. The most rewarding was to see many of the people I have helped live a woderful life of freedom and value who they are.
After the completion of the depression course there is the Be Successful workshop which helps you find your purpose in life and achieve all the success you deserve.
Firstly to be able to overcome depression you need to understand where it origanally started. For example the depression could have started in your early childhood and only appear later in life. Secondly you have to want to get better and thirdly take the responsibility and action.
