Psychic Development - The Missing Keys

One morning when I was eight years old my homeroom teacher announced to the class that she had misplaced her keys. Mrs. Blackwood was well beyond retirement age and I felt sorry for her since she was obviously in some distress. Her eyesight was not very good and she asked the class to keep a lookout for her keys. This dear old teacher barely had time to finish the sentence when a vision flashed in my mind of her keys beneath a cardboard box. I turned in my seat and looked at her desk. A cardboard box full of papers sat on the corner of her desk. "Your keys are under that box", I said. Mrs. Blackwood gave me a quizzical look, shrugged her shoulders and lifted the box. And there, just as I had seen in my mind were her lost keys. It was not the first time that I had simply "known" information that I had no logical reason to, but it was the first time that I recall sharing this type of information with anyone other than a close relative.

To me, this type of instantaneous "knowing" is the true nature of genuine psychic ability. This goes beyond having a gut feeling or developing an impression about a subject and involves knowing immediately and without a doubt or reservation that information is correct and factual.

I suspect that many of the people reading this article will have had similar experiences at one time or another. I wonder though how many of those readers will have brushed off the information received at those times. Have you ever simply "known" something which seemed beyond your experience? Are you one those people that has allowed your logical mind to explain away the event? Perhaps you decided that you must have picked up the information from somewhere, that your subconscious mind absorbed and stored the information for later recall. If so, you may have missed a golden opportunity to receive important insights into your present life and your future.

I titled this writing "The Missing Keys" not just because it relays a childhood story involving lost keys but because I wanted to discuss an important missing element to developing intuitive abilities. That element is trust. You must trust that your mind has capabilities that far outreach the understanding of present day science. Your mind is capable of transcending time and space, of viewing both past and future events as well as locations far from the physical self. But you must first learn to trust the information provided by the higher mind in order achieve a greater understanding of the insights that it has to offer. For many of us this can be the most difficult task to master.
