Having an online business takes work. It’s not as simple as putting up information pages, getting search engine traffic or paying for pay-per-click advertising. It takes a lot more work than that. It means building a business and getting to know your customers.
Just think about this... If you have a brick-and-mortar business you’d be in the store, greeting your customers with a smile and giving them great customer service so they come back and buy from you again. This is essentially what you have to do online as well. But because your business is a website and behind a screen, building that relationship will take a bit more work. Your words and your offers will be what keep your visitors coming back for more.
Make sure that you speak conversationally to your readers. Tell them stories but tie it into what it is you offer. By having a bit of a personality, your readers will feel as though they know you and in term they’ll want to buy from you because they trust you. Granted, some people are harder to entice than others. So, a great tip is to reward them with a gift.
Giving away a free report or a CD is an excellent marketing strategy. Why? Well, it makes them see how knowledgeable you are but also how generous you are. The CD offer is an excellent offer as it allows you to send them something in the mail. Never overlook the power of direct mail. It’s worked for decades and still continues to work - especially in this new age of online communication. Getting something in the mail adds that personal touch. That something special that most people no longer get because most marketers are only making offers online. If you can distinguish yourself from the rest, this is a definite added bonus. You’ll see it in your response rate from your readers.
What I like to do is when I provide my CD offer, it’s still like I’m doing everything online but I just have my readers pay for the shipping for the free CD. I ensure I entice them to pay for the shipping and buy more of my products in the future, by giving them irresistible information on the CD that they can’t live without. But the best part of it all is that I get their address. This is HUGE! I can mail to them again and again. That’s where I give that personal touch. They see my generosity by giving them a “free” CD. Something tangible is always better. People seem to place more value on things they can touch.
Just think; you’ll be gaining not only trust but also credibility. Now that is priceless! Credibility can grow your traffic and make you the go-to person in your niche.
