We spend our lives running from one event to the next. We have become so busy, we have forgotten to be still. Just what rat race are we on? I like to say that as busy as we are, we need to get to the opposite peace and quiet. This race includes running from those bottom lines!

RUNNING
By Merry C. Battles

Running, running, but to where?
Meet one here. Meet more there.
Scurrying to find happiness.
Racing to capture fulfillment.
Leaping to consume.
Searching for what's good tomorrow.
Maybe if I keep running,
I won't have to think about me...
Who I really am,
What I really feel about life,
Where I am going.
This glorious race leads us back to
Just me sitting here.
Loving the world or hating it.
Making peace or creating war.
Just me alone.
But tied to trillions and zillions of other stars. ncopyright 2009 Merry C. Battles

THE BOTTOM LINE
By Merry C. Battles

The bottom line will do anything
To get what it wants.
It will pollute our rivers and
Damage our minds.
It will cheat and steal legally,
Not caring where is the next buck.
It will lie and represent anything to
Make those numbers roll.
Roll up only.
And if on the way dow

It will kill off or fire,
That unlucky sap that stands on the bottom line.
What is this thing?
A pot that can only grow,
Or heads will spin.
What price riches?
Destruction of our glorious planet.
Defilement of our once - pristine minds.
Where can we run from those bottom lines?nn©2009 Merry C. Battlesnnn n
