I took my thirteen year old son to see this movie and from the very start it seemed that I was destined to be in the cinema and absorb the messages that were being delivered. It was quite an amazing experience and so much so that my son looked over to me on several occasions and said, ‘Dad that is the Law of Attraction”.
Let me give you a rundown on the plot of the movie:
Kung Fu Panda is about a lazy panda, named Po, who dreams of being a Kung Fu legend despite working every day in his family’s noodle shop. By what appears to be total chance he is asked to fulfill an ancient prophecy and Po’s dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five — Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey — under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. Before very long the snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way and seeking revenge, and it’s up to Po to defend his village from the threat of Tai Lung. The movie is centered around whether Po can turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart and stomach into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.
There is so much to be taken from this movie. I remember one particular instance when the guru, Master Shifu talks to one of the kung fu experts. He looks into a pond and the water is moving around and he looks into the water and states that when your mind is not clearly focussed it is like the moving water, very difficult to look into, very blurry. Whereas, when the water is still the reflection is crystal clear, like when your mind is focussed. It was a clear message to me that you can achieve and see anything when your mind is clearly focussed.
Another principal of the Law of Attraction was apparent in the movie; Po was announced as the Dragon Warrior, but did this mean that he would instantly, mystically be given all the skills of the kung fu legends. No it did not happen this way at all; it was only when Po made the committment to take action that those skills began to develop. It is the same for each of us; the Law of Attraction states that we must visualise what we want to achieve in life so that the universe attracts it to us, but only if we undertake some sort of action.
The other defining moment of the movie for me was when Po was handed the Dragon Warrior Scroll. A sacred scroll that each of the other Kung Fu legends would have given their life to see. Po unrolled the scroll and examined it to see it was blank. The sacred scroll did not contain any wisdom at all. Or so it seemed. The movie followed Po’s personal growth until he realised the secret of the scroll — all of the power was to be found within himself — that was the secret, he did not need any external assistance to be a great warrior — everything was already within himself.
This is a really important message for all of us — everything that we need is to be found within ourselves — sure we will need the assistance of others but ultimately our power is within ourselves. We need to realise this and then use it to create the life we desire.
Kung Fu Panda is a movie that I would definately recommend.
