The Walter E. Schott Organization is an investment group that bought the P.A. Geier Company in 1953. The company name changed to Royal Appliance Manufacturing. The Ultra Hand Vac which is a newer model of the original Dirt Devil Hand Vac was introduced in 1996. The best selling stick vacuum cleaner in the United States, the Broom Vac, was also introduced. The Dirt Devil BV2030 Broom Vac has nine color options, a longer battery life and more suction. The newest update of the original Hand Vac was introduced in 2005. It is called the Dirt Devil Classic Hand Vac and brings Dirt Devil’s operations back to its bestselling roots.

After a long string of owners, the Royal Appliance Manufacturing Company was purchased for the final time to date by TTI Floor Care North America in 2003. This Hong Kong based firm owns various other vacuum cleaner manufacturers as well. TTI stands for TechTronic Industries.
