How many acne treatments have you tried to date? One? Ten? Too many to count? Unfortunately, you, along with hundreds of thousands of other acne sufferers are constantly misled into acne treatment scams, one after another. In this article, we'll identify how to find these scams, if they are a scam or not, and guarantees you can find to protect yourself.

First rule of searching for an acne treatment that works for you: if it's too good to be true, that's because it is. What do the acne companies promise you? Acne freedom in under one or two weeks is near impossible. Acne often takes a minimum of one month to treat once you begin using an acne treatment that works for you. If you cannot accept this, you'll be buying into miracle acne treatments one after another. A common scam on the Internet today is the e-book "Acne Free in 3 Days." They promise you acne free skin in 3 days, and all they tell you to do is eat apples and drink plenty of water. A miracle acne cure? Far from it.

Before teaching you how to identify scams, it's a common misconception to think every acne treatment that doesn't work for your skin type is a scam. What doesn't work for you obviously may work for someone else. Any acne treatment with a 50 percent success rate is very high. There is no miracle acne treatment, otherwise we'd all be acne free. For example, the strongest acne treatment currently in existence, Accutane, only has a 50 percent success rate, along with severe side effects. These pills completely shut off your oil glands so acne cannot form. Even this severe acne treatment cannot cure everyone. This is not what an acne suffer wants to hear, but accepting the truth is the first step to acne freedom.

To identify scams, just start by reading their sales copy. If they're promising you the impossible, even if they offer a money-back guarantee, be very wary while you read their promotion. A quick tip is to check to see if the company has a phone number, address, and contact form listed on their website. A legitimate acne company would allow you to contact them other than an email. Try sending them an email and see how long it takes them to reply. If they don't reply, this obviously gives you a bad impression of them. There are so many acne products to try; just ignore this company.

The next step would be to check their ingredients. It's easy to detect ingredients that are harmful to the skin with just a glance, however you may need to do some research on your side. But, ingredients are easily faked, and some ingredients may not even be listed. Some companies even like to patent their ingredients so you can't tell what is there. Patented ingredients are not anything special; it is just a promotional technique. Do not be misled by the sales copy.

Overall, it's important to not jump into "get clear fast!" schemes. Acne treatment takes time. By locating the right acne treatment for you, one month is really a very short period of time to become acne free.
