Both men and women, of any age, can experience thinning hair problems, and so therefore it is understandably an issue that needs to be taken quite seriously into consideration. Not only can thinning hair be distressing and negatively affect one’s confidence and self-esteem, but as well it can be the sign of a more serious underlying problem or even a deadly disease such as cancer.

The Cause

There can be different causes in different cases, however all hair loss problems generally have the same basics. Basically how it works is that both men and women produce hormones, and baldness is largely the result of an imbalance of these hormones, which interact over time with hair follicles that are vulnerable to their effects, thus resulting in thinning hair or hair loss.

In some people this hormonal imbalance is genetic, which is why most of the time any man or woman who suffers from thinning hair or hair loss will have parents that suffered from it as well, and their parents, and so on.

Andogenetic alopecia is the most common specific genetic thinning hair and hair loss problem, and in fact it accounts for 95% of male hair loss in the world today. It is an extremely common disorder that also affects women, it is progressive through the gradual conversion of terminal hairs into interdeterminate hairs and then finally into vellus hairs.

However there are other causes besides genetics, such as stress, lack of nutrition, and even certain medications can result in thinning hair or hair loss. However if your problem is one of these or something similar, it is known as being temporary and you will most likely be able to deal with the problem quickly and easily and stop further hair loss.

For instance if it is stress that is causing your thinning hair or hair loss you can find out the root cause of your stress, by going to therapy or counseling for instance, removing that source of stress, and this should take care of the hair loss problem. On the other hand if it is medication that is causing the issue, then you should speak to your doctor because they will most likely be able to put you on a different medication, one that is not going to cause you any damaging side effects.

As soon as you notice thinning hair or hair loss you want to be sure to get in and see a medical professional as soon as possible, so they can properly diagnose you and find the proper form of treatment for your particular case. n
