The company has established itself as being relentless when it comes to innovation. TomTom recently released a robust new tool that is highly practical for fleet tracking, TomTom WORK. This article discusses the features of this amazing, innovative fleet tracking software.nnWorking for younnTomTom WORK is a complete fleet tracking solution. It has three key components: LINK, GO, and WEBFLEET. TomTom LINK is a small unit placed inside all fleet vehicles. Using GPS technology, these units allow users to conveniently track where each vehicle is. Other important data can be sent via GPRS to a central office. nnTomTom GO comes in two models, the TomTom GO 710 and the TomTom GO 510. These award-winning units provide individual drivers with a personal navigation system. The GO units can also be used as communication devices so that drivers can coordinate with the main office. nnThe most important component of the TomTom WORK fleet tracking solution is the WEBFLEET. This is the service component of the WORK solution that is generally utilized in the company’s main office. It is discussed further in the next section.nnTomTom WEBFLEETnnThe TomTom WEBFLEET component is a market-leading, web-based fleet tracking service. It is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via a computer with Internet connection.nnWEBFLEET is highly interactive. Using up-to-date maps, users can see the exact locations of all their vehicles on one screen. Users have a choice of two different sets of maps. They can use TomTom WEBFLEET maps, which are updated by the TomTom community. Users can also use satellite maps, which show street level details. By knowing where their fleet vehicles are in real time, companies can allocate their jobs more efficiently. The TomTom WEBFLEET fleet tracking application even shows up-to-date traffic details, so companies can plan ahead and find ways to avoid traffic pileups. n nThe WEBFLEET fleet tracking software features a highly intuitive user interface. Tasks have been grouped together for easy access. Users can conveniently interact with map screens via drag-and-drop or by using the mouse to zoom in and out. n nTomTom WORK successnnTomTom WORK has seen widespread success since its release in mid-2008. The fleet tracking solution has allowed TomTom to forge a number of new business partnerships. Scotia Gas Network (SGN), for example, a UK-based gas distribution company, has awarded TomTom with a contract to supply fleet tracking solution for 1,500 vehicles operated by SGN. Each vehicle will be fitted with a TomTom LINK vehicle tracking device and a GO satellite navigation screen. nnNationLink wireless, a company that provides full-service wireless solutions is another company that has wisely decided to partner with TomTom. NationLink feels that, with TomTom WORK, they will have more options to offer their clients. NationLink plans to offer combined solutions that include in-vehicle navigation, fleet tracking and office-to-field communication.
